What’s AiDASH Day? This special day marks AiDASH’s anniversary, and yesterday several team members took the occasion to give back to the community that has supported us by volunteering at Ecumenical Hunger Program (EHP) in East Palo Alto. The nonprofit has been an institution in the Bay Area for almost 50 years, providing critical support to low-income families in our community, always evolving to meet new needs and challenges. Our team helped by sorting donations, restocking shelves, and packing food bags, all of which will directly benefit local families in need. This hands-on activity allowed us to give back meaningfully to our community, while strengthening AiDASH’s culture of teamwork and giving and deepening our connection to our community. Is championing biodiversity a plus or minus for water and electric utilities? Leaders from three water and electric providers joined AiDASH VP of EMEA Shashin Mishra at AiDASH Evolve 2024 to discuss how they address Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and natural capital in their operations. The panelists explored how they balance the needs of critical water infrastructure with sustainable environmental stewardship and delved into the challenges and opportunities of embedding biodiversity into water utility operations, including regulatory compliance, partnerships with landowners, and the use of technology to monitor and enhance natural capital.  They focused on real-world benefits like water quality improvement, flood risk reduction, and sustainable land management. Summary:  •Utilities can build success by breaking technology and information silos and fostering digital maturity. •Balancing biodiversity goals with operational goals is a must: Key approaches include aligning timelines and governance, leveraging price reviews, and tracking and communicating impacts to stakeholders. •Natural capital and sustainability initiatives enhance public trust and engagement. The climate is serving up severe challenges to utilities. How can satellite and cloud infrastructure help? Attendees at AiDASH Evolve 2024 learned from the experts at UP42, Maxar Technologies, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) about how their platforms leverage these technologies for reliability and climate resiliency. From enhancing decision-making and optimizing operations to addressing climate-related severe weather events, they examined the pivotal role that satellites and cloud infrastructure play in building resilient, future-ready systems.
