The solution for water management may be found from space. As heads of state, high-level government officials, experts, entrepreneurs and heads of organisations from all over the world, including Elon Musk, arrived in #Bali for the 10th World Water Forum, we’re reminded of the valuable role earth observation satellites and sensors can play in informing water strategies for shared prosperity. Water plays a crucial role in driving economic and social development while also being essential for maintaining the integrity of the natural environment. Earth Observation (EO) technology offers valuable assistance in assessing and managing water resources effectively. The synoptic coverage and revisit capabilities of the EO constellations of satellites equipped with Multi/Hyperspectral, Thermal, and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)-based intelligence, enhance our ability to monitor and safeguard this vital resource. SAR satellites can produce images based on radar technology. One of SAR's strengths is that it can create clear images in both day or night regardless of the presence of clouds, smoke, and rain. Therefore, SAR is most often used to detect changes in the environment and can help organisations better understand risk exposure during climate events as they unfold. If there’s a flood event, access and aerial surveillance can be delayed. Observations from satellites can be collected in near real time through direct tasking and programmed over regular intervals, providing accurate information for agencies. However, water management is not a one sensor solution. Understanding water quality requires a multi-sensor data approach. Hyperspectral imaging with thermal can help identify suspended sediments, algae along with SAR for the extent and relative changes in the depth of the water bodies. Eartheye Space has all the sensors for water management on one platform for self-service. Whether it’s monitoring the impact of weather events, climate change, maritime movements, mining, agriculture, forest management or water and resources; accessible and affordable remote sensing data empowers organisations to be agile and accurate in their strategic choices. 🌏 Eartheye Space makes Earth Observation Easy. 🛰 Ask for a demo at www.eartheye.space or register at tasking.eartheye.space 💲 Subscription is only U$5,000 per annum. ✅ Available for any size organisation that meets our ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) requirements. ♻ Please repost or share with anyone you know who may be interested in earth observation. 🚀 Hydron's Laser Data Links: Threat or Opportunity for Earth Observation Ground Service Providers? Hydron promises unprecedented speeds for data transmission, potentially transforming the Earth observation (EO) landscape. By enabling near-real-time data sharing, this technology has the potential to grow relevance and hence demand But, as with any breakthrough, there’s an essential question: Does this new capability challenge existing EO ground service providers, or does it open doors for growth across the sector? A few considerations: Market Expansion: Faster data links may expand the use cases and demand for EO data, enhancing opportunities for existing providers to innovate and integrate these new data streams into their offerings. Increased Competition: Providers that rely on traditional downlink methods might feel the competitive pressure to adapt, investing in new tech or partnerships to keep pace with speed and bandwidth expectations. Collaborative Potential: With more accessible high-speed data, partnerships could flourish, combining traditional ground capabilities with cutting-edge laser-linked data to broaden the EO ecosystem and deliver even more value. In the end, this innovation could represent a net benefit for the entire EO market, stimulating both competition and collaboration. If we embrace the potential of high-speed data sharing, the gains could ripple through industries, benefiting all stakeholders and end-users. What are your thoughts—opportunity or challenge? 🌍📡 #EarthObservation #SatelliteTech #DataInnovation #EO https://lnkd.in/dtdcbD_Q
