We had a fun Halloween gathering earlier this week 🎃 🍬 👻 where we brought together our in-person and virtual teammates to celebrate the spooky season! A few of the highlights included... 🎃 Introducing a few members of our team to pumpkin-carving for the first time! (And, of course, taking the opportunity to carve the time-independent Schrodinger equation.) 👻 Great costumes across the board, including wizards (Jeremy E. Monat, Ph.D.), butterflies (Einat Maron), pilots (Mehmet H. Goker), Dan Flash (Handong Ling), incognito K-Pop stars (Hyonjin Kim) and Yusuf Dikec (Shreyas Honrao) ☕ Our costume contest winner, Stephanie Tarczynski, as Sabrina Carpenter with "Me Quantum Espresso" (with runners-up Mohamed Elshazly as Marcus Aurelius and Noushin Omidvar as Wednesday Addams)! 🧁 Festive cup-cake decorating 👻 A spirited debate over what the company "crime" on the mugshot board should be, with the top contenders being "car(bon) jacking" and "a salt 'n battery"

Stanford spinout Aionics, Inc. was built on the thesis that there’s only one step in the battery material development process that has the potential to get exponentially better: the compute step. According to CEO and co-founder Austin Sendek, that’s the moment where the cost savings can add up over time. With that assumption in mind, Aionics developed models to predict and understand molecular properties. The goal? As co-founder Venkat Viswanathan explained, Aionics is aiming to use these models to identify specific molecules that can have a disproportionate impact on the performance of a mixture, such as for a battery electrolyte. https://lnkd.in/eTRAg3b2

As we enter the second half of 2024, we are reflecting on two great industry recognitions we received earlier this year: we were named to the CB Insights "AI 100" list of the top 100 private AI companies, alongside OpenAI and Databricks and others, and we were selected as honorees in Fast Company's World Changing Ideas 2024 list, where our world changing idea was described as "using AI to design batteries."
