Fireworks are a hallmark tradition for the Fourth of July, but did you know they increase air pollution by 40%? The spike in air pollution can aggravate symptoms for people with respiratory issues. Take a few steps to keep yourself and your loved ones safe this holiday.    👉 Avoid sparklers and other close-up smoke encounters. It’s better to watch fireworks from a distance.     😷 For those with respiratory issues, wearing an N95 mask can help, according to environmental health experts. The increase in pollution typically dissipates by noon the next day.    🐩 🐈⬛ And don’t forget to check in on your four-legged loved ones as many dogs and cats are afraid of fireworks. Meet Tamara, a clinical systems and special projects senior manager on our Care Management team. Here are a few highlights from the week:    👥 We shared how open communication with our members led to higher retention and greater member satisfaction on Hakan Kardes’s panel exploring the importance of investing in #CX. When Hakan started giving his personal email to members so they could share feedback, we had no idea that it would unlock deep insights into member behavior and lead us to simple changes that improved member experience dramatically. The lesson? Listen to your members and look for trends in the data.     ✨ We loved hearing insights from other industry leaders, especially those on Dawn Maroney’s panel about crafting segment-specific insurance products to drive better outcomes and engagement. We heard from Gary Culp from Cigna Healthcare about how technology can help solve business problems and improve customer experience and wellness by giving customers access to the things they need. Karen Schulte from SCAN shared how they were able to lean into segmentation and offer a plan designed for women.     Thank you to the AHIP team for the opportunity to learn from our peers. In honor of Father’s Day and Men’s Health Week, we talked to Inaki Serrano, our digital marketing specialist, about fatherhood, health and his career. For him, it's all about embracing balance – a lesson he learned from his own father. “I want to serve my family to the best of my ability, for as long as I can. I also want to set an example to my children about healthy living and a balanced life. I try to start my day with a mile walk or a bike ride.
