According to the American Cancer Society, more than half of all colorectal cancers are linked to physical inactivity, poor nutrition, excess weight, tobacco and alcohol. If you’re over 45, you should start getting screened for colorectal cancer – screening is one of the most powerful tools for prevention. It usually takes 10 to 15 years for the first abnormal cells that grow into polyps to become colorectal cancer, making early detection and easier treatment possible.
