🚀 Pushing the Boundaries of Rare Earth's Refinement Technology At Alkemio, we are developing a modular and easily deployable refinement process powered by selective molecular technology. Last month, our team successfully replicated the molecular complex that makes the magic happen — and the results have been outstanding! ✨ Our mission is to empower miners to move up the value chain. Instead of selling a semi-processed product that needs to be shipped overseas, they can now deliver refined products directly to metal manufacturers, creating more value locally. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to drive innovation forward! 💡

This is why we need innovative technologies for refining rare earths. If we want to stay competitive, the solution isn't to invest in a $1 billion refinery using government financing. Instead, we need to develop new, more efficient, and cost-effective processes for refining rare earths. "So far, Australia’s answer is to support miners with cheap loans and grants. It promises them tax breaks under a new industrial policy. But the help only goes so far. The government lent Iluka A$1.25bn ($850m) in 2022 to open a rare-earths refinery. On August 21st Iluka declared that it needs more funding to complete the facility. There is still a long way to go to end, or even reduce, reliance on China." https://lnkd.in/dBqcBVJf

Last week, Francisco Morrone was honored to participate in the REIA - The Global Rare Earth Industry Association conference in Tokyo, Japan! Francisco was a panelist at the "New Rare Earth Technologies" session, where he showcased ALKEMIO's disruptive rare earth separation technology and its potential impact on the industry. Some highlights from the conference: - Due to market prices, current processing/separation technologies are facing profitability challenges. - China remains a dominant force in the rare earth market, but the rise of new mining operations promises to diversify the global supply chain. - Buyers are interested in suppliers of sustainable production metals, but there are still concerns about whether they will pay higher (Premium) prices. - The primary bottlenecks in the supply chain are the separation of rare earth elements (REEs) and metal manufacturing, both of which involve high-cost processes.

Grateful to the REIA - The Global Rare Earth Industry Association team for inviting ALKEMIO to join the panel on "new technologies in rare earth separation". It was an insightful event with great discussions and networking opportunities.
✨ Day 2 of our 2024 REIA Annual Conference was filled with insightful discussions. From captivating keynote speeches to engaging panel discussions, we covered various topics. - Philippe Kehren, Solvay CEO, presented the company's involvement in the rare-earth sector, reflecting the evolution of progress and setting the stage for future approaches. He refelcted on the current market trends and mentioned that Solvay is open for colloboartion with potential partners to meet the market needs. - Thomas Kruemmer, Tim Harrison, Ramon Barua Costa, khan liu, Brett Hazelden and Darrin Campbell delved into the topic of heavy rare-earths and the challenges they face. The panel had a divergent view on the future demand of heavy rare earths and agreed that completely relying on the automotive sector as the main consumer would be a bit risky. Other sectors and new inventions could emerge as new demand drivers as well. - Amanda Lacaze, Lynas Rare Earths Ltd CEO, shared her expertise on navigating the future in the industry and provided guidance related to industry trends and future developments. - Gareth Hatch, Sean Medin, James Quinn, Francisco Morrone and David O'Brock discussed about new technologies for rare-earth separation. The discussion touched upon the commercial viability, scalability and other aspects of new technologies. - Caroline Messecar, Ahmad Ghahreman, William Dawes, Felipe Guerrero and Leonard Ansorge discussed the challenges of recycling rare earths. Rare-earths recycling faces several hurdles and finding waste could be the biggest one. - Daan de Jonge, Product Director at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, delved into electric vehicles outlook. - Ronan Murphy, Editor at Argus Media, provided an update on the rare-earths supply chain. - Frédéric Carencotte, CARESTER Founder, talked about the CAREMAG project, focused on magnet recycling and extraction of heavy rare earths.
