  • Host of the 49th Annual Gracie Awards Gala, Tamera Mowry, perfectly captured the essence of the evening which we will remember as a palpable celebration of women’s brilliance in media. The night was filled with moments of inspiration, as women shared their stories and excellence in programming was lifted up. “Hearing from other people’s experiences by being here… you feel empowered, so I feel like there’s going to be a kumbaya moment where the women are looking at each other in the room and inspiring each other and saying, if I can do it, you can do it and let’s not give up.” #TheGracies #AllWomenInMedia #ThrowbackThursday

  • A highlight of #TheGracies Luncheon included an interview with Emma Myers, this year’s AWMF/ Podcast Movement scholarship recipient, and award-winning broadcast journalist, Rita Cosby, host of 77 WABC Radio🎙️ One question Emma asked Rita, "How do the Gracie Awards inspire the next generation of women in media, including scholarship recipients like myself?" Rita's inspiring response: "I’ve seen the living proof—so many times I’ve come to the Gracie Awards, I’ll see a student winner, and guess what? A year or two later they’re a professional winner, so the proof is very much in the pudding. Often, this is sort of the stepping stone, and it also just shows them what it is to be a single woman broadcaster. I leave every time from these awards and galas inspired. I leave also thinking of different layers, different ways to tell the story, different ways to learn. We all learn from each other. We all get inspired and join forces together, and it’s a remarkable sense of teamwork and girl power that you leave here fully on fire, and you can’t wait to take charge of the world! I’ve always believed that a woman can do anything, but you leave here validated and you leave also knowing you have many comrades here that are on the journey with you, and that is incredible." Emma added, "I’ve already felt it. Just everyone I’ve met has been so amazing and kind and supportive—you can feel it." Rita continued, "So dynamic, the energy, and the vibe, you walk away going, ‘Wow… I can do this, I’m not alone.’ Often there are friendships here. I’ve seen a young woman I saw here years ago who won a student award, and she’s won a bunch of professional awards since then, and her career has skyrocketed. And I think she very much credits this to the Gracies and I very much credit...I’ve been blessed to win a lot of awards in my life, but when I see that you’ve won a Gracie, I cry because I know that it’s picked by women, by your peers, and that’s the best testament of all, the best judges of all." Stay tuned for more from this powerful conversation! #AllWomenInMedia
