Happy World Occupational Therapy Day! The theme for this year is, “Occupational Therapy for All.” The theme reflects the important role of the profession in facilitating the ability of individuals, communities, and populations to participate in the activities that they want, need, or are expected to do in their daily lives. Occupational therapy is a vital part of hospice. This form of therapy is used to help those recovering from physical or mental illnesses. We work to encourage rehabilitation to help with certain activities that are necessary for daily life. OTs play a crucial role in the hospice care team. They help identify significant life roles and activities that provide some meaning to patients. They’ll talk to the patient to find out what they want to accomplish and what’s most important to them. They also consider the available support systems and resources they may have to achieve those goals. Thank you, Occupational Therapist, for all the hard work that you do each day!

During Spiritual Care Week, we celebrate the chaplains who serve not only as spiritual guides but also as counselors, listeners, and compassionate companions. Their roles extend far beyond religious care, as they wear many hats to provide support wherever it’s needed most. Meet Chaplain Rev. Susana from our Alice office. She shares, "As per 20 years with hospice and the past 11 years with Altus Hospice Care has truly been a blessing... My journey began in Jerusalem Israel in the Holy Land.. as I was working towards my doctoral in theology with an emphasis on Christian counseling. It was there that the Lord inspired me to venture out into the hospice arena... Thereafter touching Jesus' tomb, I would never be the same person... Upon my return, I was ordained as a minister. Searching for the hospice where God would place me. Altus Hospice Care has definitely been the best hospice program for me. Providing spiritual care is not about a religion and finally, this hospice program gets it.. Working and communicating together as a team has been the key to successful growth in this company. Furthermore, my aim is to one day hear from the Lord ‘Good job great and faithful servant.’ Love this Altus Alice Team!" #SpiritualCareWeek #MoreThanReligion #ManyHatsOfCare #OurCareFamily

During Spiritual Care Week, we celebrate the chaplains who serve not only as spiritual guides but also as counselors, listeners, and compassionate companions. Their roles extend far beyond religious care, as they wear many hats to provide support wherever it’s needed most. Meet Chaplain Jordan from our Corpus Christi office. He shares, "After spending 10 years in church pastoral leadership, I felt called to make a change. The opportunity to become a hospice chaplain became available, and I haven't looked back. My favorite part of ministry is being able to sit and listen and just be present with people, and my role as hospice chaplain gives me that opportunity to be there for our patients and their families." #SpiritualCareWeek #MoreThanReligion #ManyHatsOfCare #OurCareFamily
