From the AB Archives: 44 years ago AB completed the Ulysses S. Grant Bridge project over the Ohio River in Portsmouth, Ohio. The project involved the replacement of the main cables, suspender ropes, stiffening truss, and roadway deck system. The bridge is a cantilevered through truss bridge with a main span of 617 feet. From the AB Archives: 62 years ago, AB completed the fabrication and erection of the Robert D. Fleming Bridge in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The road carries Pennsylvania Route 8 between Morningside and Sharpsburg across the Allegheny River and is a common crossing for people visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo. The Robert D. Fleming Bridge is a 16-span, 2,100-foot truss bridge that includes a four-span truss channel unit of 1,054 feet with a 400-foot center span, and a three-span girder unit of 494 feet with a 227-foot center span over an active railroad right of way. #BuildingGreatThings Southland Holdings - #bridgeconstruction #engineering
