Nearly a year ago, the ground assault on Gaza began—a brutal chapter in an ongoing tragedy that has seen tens of thousands of Palestinians injured and over 40,000 killed. For too many, Gaza’s suffering has become the “new normal,” and some have even lost hope that peace will ever come. But we cannot afford to give up. Not on Gaza. Not today, not tomorrow. The people of Gaza deserve safety, dignity and a future. We all have a role to play in making that a reality. Here are three actions you can take today to support Gaza and help pave the way for peace: 1) Demand a ceasefire. The mass killing of innocent people must end and we must be able to properly respond to the mass humanitarian needs. 2) Share our work with your community. 3) Donate and support our relief efforts at anera.org/gaza-emergency. Whatever action you take, remember: the people of Gaza are not statistics—they are human beings, and they need our solidarity now more than ever. #DontForgetGaza #SupportGaza #DayOfNonviolence

This past year has been marked by unimaginable pain, destruction, and profound loss including the death of our own dear team member, Mousa Shawwa. Today serves as more than just a reminder of the relentless bombardment that has taken more than 40,000 lives in Gaza. It is also a reminder of Gaza’s 17-year siege that has denied people access to even the most basic necessities and traps them in a cycle of confinement. It is a reminder of the generations of displacement endured by Palestinians since 1948. Palestinian suffering is not limited to the past year; it is an ongoing struggle for dignity, freedom and survival. We must come together, united, to work toward a world where every individual knows freedom, and every voice is heard. Photo: Ramadan in Gaza, 2022 #Gaza #Palestine

Israel has issued evacuation orders for northern #Gaza, where approximately 300,000 people remain. This directive comes amid an escalating military operation in the area, with recent strikes claiming at least 12 lives since Saturday morning. Civilians are being forced to flee under dire circumstances, navigating shattered terrain where 92% of primary roads have been destroyed or damaged. Many are unable to leave due to limited mobility or other barriers, making the evacuation orders potentially devastating for these individuals and their families. Just as at the start of the conflict, Gazans are being told to seek refuge in designated “safe zones” in the north, but as we’ve seen over the past year, no place in Gaza is truly safe. #CeasefireNow #DontForgetGaza

Today, on this International Day of Nonviolence, we reflect on the hope of a world free from violence. Yet, this past year has been marked by profound suffering, especially in #Gaza, where families have endured unimaginable devastation. Furthermore, the recent ground invasion of #Lebanon, along with a looming escalation, has made the situation even more dire, pushing us further away from the peace we all desperately need. Families are being uprooted, displaced, and left to live in constant fear for their future. With each day that violence continues, the hope for a better tomorrow slips further away. On this day, we call on everyone to remember that peace is not an abstract idea. It is a real possibility, but it must begin now—with each of us, and with an immediate ceasefire. Only then can we start to heal and work towards a future rooted in dignity and compassion for all.

Amid escalating violence and widespread destruction in Lebanon, the situation for countless families is dire, with over one million displaced. Despite the chaos, Anera’s team remains unwavering in delivering urgent aid. Over the weekend, we distributed over 5,500 pillows and mattresses to shelters in Beirut, Saida and Tripoli, supported by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, UNICEF Lebanon and Anera’s donors. In Northern Lebanon, we ensured the Meriata Official School had reliable access to clean water, filling two 2,110-gallon tanks. We also distributed 400 feminine hygiene kits and 400 family kits across six Mount Lebanon locations, made possible by our supporters and partners at LIFTING HANDS INTERNATIONAL. Today, we restored water access at Lebanese University (UNESCO), which hosts 800 displaced people. Addressing outdated infrastructure, our team cleaned and repaired tanks and pipes, ensuring a reliable, clean water supply for displaced individuals.
