Orders of manufacturing technology totaled $357.3 million in January 2025, down 29.8% from December but up 5.7% from January 2024. While the order value was 16.2% higher than an average January, the units ordered were the lowest for any January since 2016. Read the full report here:

Can you believe it has been a week since we met up in San Antonio for MFG 2025? We had so much fun, we wanted to make sure to fill you in on what happened on Friday, the last day of the conference! Some brave souls woke up early to endure the cold for the M4M 5K before heading in for opening remarks from Travis Egan and NTMA's Doug DeRose who were joined by Gardner Business Media, Inc.'s Rick Kline Jr. They then introduced ITR Economics' Senior Forecaster, Connor Lokar, who told us how to that both good and bad times are on the horizon. We then heard from Frank Ferrante, VP of Automation Sales and Marketing from Wolfspeed to talk about auto supply chain and semi conductors. The morning closed with Jacob Horne of Summit 7 who told us that cybersecrutiy is here to stay and how we can best prepare for it. But that was only the first half of the day! We'll update you on the second half of the day so stay tuned!

So much content and so much fun to match in the second half of the first day of MFG 2025! We welcomed back a familiar face, former AMT Chief Technology Officer, now Chief Strategy Officer for BlueForge Alliance, Tim Shinbara Jr. provided insights into the maritime manufacturing industry. We then took a trip to Capitol Hill with Omar Nashashibi of Inside Beltway and Caitlin Sickles of Bracewell LLP gave us a glimpse of how the industry will be affected by the new administration. We closed out sessions with a panel of industry greats including Patrick McGibbon, Roger Atkins, Steve Lesnewich and Roy Sweatman to give a glimpse of how to tackle issues in today's manufacturing world. We then headed down to New Orleans for a Mardi Gras themed reception, sponsored by Kennametal! We ate gumbo, danced to some jazz and made sure to wear our beads! Stay tuned for Day 2 updates!

AI reigned supreme this morning at MFG! We started the morning with Deepesh Chouhan from NVIDIA and how agentic and physical AI will affect the industry. We then were treated to Manufacturing AI Consultant, Bryce Barnes' presentation on AI's past, present and potential future in manufacturing. Before lunch, Praveen Rao MS, MBA of Google Cloud showed us that while AI is moving fast, there are tools and tactics to harness it to benefit your business (and how companies like PODS and Warner Bros. Raise a glass to new places and new connections! MFG 2025 kicked off last night with our Welcome Reception where we got to see new and known faces from all over the industry.
