Free Mental Health Support for Teens 🧠✨ Appa Health is excited to announce that we are providing 12-weeks of FREE services to 100s of teens thanks to a research study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) SBIR grant. Our mission at Appa is to improve mental health for teens through equitable and accessible world-class mentorship. At no cost to families, we're offering teens ages 13 - 18 access to our app-based care programs: (1) 1:1 near-peer mentorship and/or (2)  bite-sized videos teaching mental health skills. If you are a parent/caregiver please complete our NIMH study interest form and our team will reach out and tell you more about the program. For all others, please repost and share with your networks. Members of GenZ are 60% more likely than Boomers to remember a time in childhood when they wanted a mentor but didn’t have one. Participants in this large study reported: “When I was depressed and didn’t have friends it would have been nice to have someone to talk to about it and tell me it would be ok.” “Transitioning from being a teenager to an adult. I could have really used an outside perspective.” “When I was struggling in school. My grades were pretty bad and were not getting better. And I think that my mentor, like, she really kind of helped me through that.” - Appa Teen Thank you to our research partners at the University of California, San Francisco and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. We are thrilled to see our first peer-reviewed study published. Since launching in 2022, Appa has served hundreds of adolescents. This study represents a small sub-sample who agreed to conduct in-depth interviews with our team and share their depression and anxiety scores. Overall, Appa Health’s mentoring and mental health skills program was engaging to teens and improved #depression and #anxiety in 12 weeks.
