📣Call for Mentors: Government, Private Industry, and Nonprofit/NGO Career Paths📣
These sessions are intended primarily for American Association of Geographers annual meeting attendees who are students planning to pursue careers outside of academia, whether in the public, private, or non-profit sectors.
Session organizers are currently seeking volunteer mentors for the session, and if you are planning to attend the conference in person and are interested in volunteering, they would love to have you participate in one (or both) of their sessions.

📅 Date: 3/26/2025
⏱️ Time: 10:10 AM - 11:30 AM
🏢 Room: 142A, Level 1, Huntington Place
These sessions are meant to be an open forum for students to receive one-on-one or small-group consultation about careers outside of academia. After brief (less than 5 minutes) introductions, mentors can either circulate around the room or plant themselves at a specific part of the room or table, allowing attendees to directly approach those mentors with whom they would like to chat.
Topics for discussion may include, but are not limited to:
· The kinds of career opportunities available for geographers within different workforce sectors
· Important trends in labor markets that are likely to create new opportunities for geographers in the future
· Additional education and training experiences that can help open doors to employment outside of academia
· Marketing your skills and writing a resume as a geography graduate
If you plan to attend the AAG Annual Meeting and would like to volunteer as a mentor, please email Kyle Sorlie Titlow at kyle.titlow@dot.gov as soon as possible and no later than Thursday, February 6, 2025. In your response, please indicate which of the two sessions (#1 on Monday and #2 on Wednesday) you'd like to be included as a participant
