About us

With roots dating back to 1701, the Archdiocese of Detroit continues to form Catholic community in southeast Michigan, administering Roman Catholic parishes and schools within the city of Detroit as well as Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, St.Clair, Monroe and Lapeer counties. In addition, the archdiocese shares the Good News of Jesus Christ to diverse constituencies of the Detroit region through direct ministry. The archdiocese is under the care of the Most Reverend Allen H. Vigneron, Archbishop of Detroit.

    Parents and families who have suffered the loss of a child are invited to attend a bilingual Mass with Prayers for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Month on Sunday, October 27, at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Families will be invited to receive a memorial rosary and a special blessing from Bishop Arturo Cepeda, celebrant. After Mass, there will be an opportunity to write the names of children lost to miscarriage and stillbirth in the memorial Book of Innocents and to venerate a relic of St. Gerard.
