Simply put, there is no path to zero emissions without zeroing out emissions from America’s 325 billion square feet of existing buildings. 4th year Architecture Student at the University of Houston | AIA Diversity Advancement Scholar
I'm back from an incredible week at the #AIA24 conference, and I'm filled with inspiration and new perspectives. A massive thank you to the Architects Foundation for making this possible and to our sponsors, including Sherwin-Williams for their generous support. Here are my favorite parts of this week: • Learning about important and conflicting conversations within the U Street Corridor through a tour led by Joel Mills. •Envisioning the redevelopment for The Reeves Center of Municipal Affairs (thank you to Michael Marshall). • Learning the history of The Octagon and understanding the beauty in Historic Preservation. • Attending the AIA Global Campus Tour. • Realizing the variety in career opportunities after going to the expo and hearing from a diverse group of Professionals in the field… the list goes on! Above all, I’ve realized how crucial it is to never lose sight of how we can serve and uplift those around us through design. Thank you once again to everyone who made this an unforgettable experience, especially my fellow scholars Rachel Wiggins, Fionn Hui, and Samuel Leung. I'm excited to apply these learnings and continue growing in this field.
