When the sudden closure of a California animal refuge stranded dozens of chimpanzees without adequate care in 2019, North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance stepped in to lead the Chimpanzees in Need campaign to transfer all the apes to accredited sanctuaries. Now, NAPSA is building off the momentum of the successful campaign to advocate for populations of captive chimpanzees throughout the U.S. who will soon be in need of sanctuary placement.
