About us

The Armenian National Committee of America represents the views and values of Armenian and allied Americans. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters and supporters throughout the United States and affiliated organizations around the world, the ANCA actively advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues. The main goals of the ANCA are to foster public awareness in support of a free, united and independent Armenia; To influence and guide U.S. policy on matters of interest to the Armenian American community; To represent the collective Armenian American viewpoint on matters of public policy, while serving as liaison between the community and their elected officials. The ANCA is active in a number of areas and engages in a wide variety of political and educational activities, including: Initiating legislation on issues of concern to the Armenian American community, such as strengthening Armenia as a secure, prosperous and democratic state; supporting Nagorno Karabagh's right to self-determination and independence within secure borders; increasing U.S. aid levels to Armenia to promote economic and democratic development; securing direct U.S. aid to Nagorno Karabagh; ensuring the appropriate commemoration of the Armenian Genocide; and encouraging Turkey and Azerbaijan to lift their blockades and adhere to international standards for human rights and humanitarian practices. Participating in the American electoral process at the federal, state, and local levels by educating elected officials about Armenian American issues and providing Armenian American voters with up-to-date information about the positions of candidates on Armenian American concerns. The ANCA regularly endorses candidates, organizes voter registration drives, and distributes Candidate Questionnaires, Congressional Report Cards and Election Guides to Armenian American voters.

  • ANCA Hosting “Accountability | 2024” – a Capitol Hill Gathering Demanding Justice for Azerbaijan’s Genocide of Artsakh’s Armenians -- The Congressional program will cap a two-day ANCA advocacy “fly-in” by community activists WASHINGTON, DC – Congressional leaders, community activists, and coalition partners will gather on Capitol Hill on September 19th for a program dedicated to holding Azerbaijan accountable for its 2020-23 genocide of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), calling for the safe return of indigenous Armenians under a global mandate and international protection, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). The event, which will start at 6:00 pm on September 19th, marks the first anniversary of Azerbaijan’s brutal September 19-20, 2023 military offensive against Artsakh, which culminated – after ten months of blockade, in the genocidal ethnic cleansing of over 120,000 ethnic Armenians from their historic homeland. https://lnkd.in/esxT2Vyv

  • ANCA Summer Spotlight: Meet Andre Akopyan, a student at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, WA. Andre is actively involved in various clubs and activities, serving as vice-president of his school’s ASB, director of Student Council, and VP and co-founder of the Model UN club. Outside of school, he is dedicated to his Armenian community, attending and volunteering at Holy Resurrection Armenian Apostolic Church, with aspirations to join the board of his ACYO chapter. "I want to get more heavily involved in the Armenian Apostolic Church Western Diocese and get my ideas out there. As a 17-year-old, I am overjoyed to see the inner workings of the ANCA and the US capital," says Andre. The ANCA was proud to host Andre as part of the Kasparian Summer Academy, and looks forward to supporting him as he deepens his involvement in the Armenian community and explores the inner workings of advocacy in Washington, DC. #ANCASummer #ANCAyouth #RisingLeaders #YouthVoices

  • ANCA Summer Spotlight: Meet Taleen Haleblian, a rising senior at Belmont High School in Belmont, MA, with a keen interest in international relations and diplomacy. Taleen is an active member of the AYF Greater Boston “Njdeh” Chapter, where she serves on the executive board. She is also a proud graduate of St. Stephens Armenian Elementary School and a co-founder of New Armenians, an Armenian cultural club that introduces Armenian youth to academics across various fields. "Through the Kasparian Summer Academy, surrounded by passionate students and staff, I look forward to learning more about the advocacy work the ANCA does to help spread awareness for Artsakh and Armenia across the United States," says Taleen. The ANCA was proud to host Taleen and looks forward to supporting her as she deepens her understanding of advocacy and contributes to spreading awareness for Artsakh and Armenia.   • ANCA Summer Spotlight: Meet Tigran Poghosyan, a rising freshman majoring in political science at UCLA. In high school, he served as the fundraising chair of Armenian Youth Education Aid, co-founded Armenian Youth of Southern California, and co-presided over his high school’s Armenian club. Through fundraisers and events, Tigran has helped support impoverished schools, educational centers, and communities in Armenia. He has also raised awareness about Armenia in his local community and traveled to Armenia to complete various projects. As someone born and raised in Armenia, Tigran is passionate about spreading awareness and advocating for our homeland. "I look forward to participating in the ANCA Kasparian Summer Academy to learn and explore Capitol Hill and learn how I can be an advocate for the Armenian Cause," says Tigran.   • ANCA Summer Spotlight: Meet Laura Forbes, a rising senior at Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions in Houston, TX, with aspirations to major in Political Science on the Pre-law path. Laura is actively involved in her Armenian community, attending AYF "Dro" chapter events and tutoring Armenian youth to help future generations thrive. This summer, she gained real-world legal experience working at a law firm, building connections with lawyers and judges. She is also an enthusiastic member of her school’s debate club, earning numerous awards. "I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to gain experience working with the ANCA and government representatives and advocating for Armenian policies because it provides me with irreplaceable memories and skills. I hope the advocacy and communication skills I learn through this academy become an extension of my future and enhance my career," says Laura.
