Manufacturing the Future of Biofabrication
About us
The BioFabUSA program is a public-private partnership between the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI), a member-driven, nonprofit organization whose mission is to make practical the scalable, consistent and cost-effective manufacturing of engineered tissues and tissue-related technologies, to benefit existing industries and grow new ones. Within the last decade, significant breakthroughs in cell biology, biofabrication and materials science have laid the foundation for the large-scale manufacturing and commercialization of engineered tissues. However, the field of tissue engineering remains fragmented and lacks a mechanistic framework through which to translate laboratory discovery into manufactured products. The goal of the institute is to close the gap in focus that inhibits the commercialization and translation of research and development. By removing existing regulatory hurdles, producing scalable, GMP-compliant processes, and establishing a commercial ecosystem, ARMI will help catalyze and foster the development of a new industry.

Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI) | BioFabUSA reposted this
I’m thrilled to announce a significant achievement in our journey to shape the workforce for the burgeoning biofabrication sector in Manchester, NH. Over the past year, I've been part of a transformative venture to secure funding through the Biden-Harris Administration's U.S. Economic Development Administration Tech Hub program, driving progress in this vital industry. The Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI) | BioFabUSA has been pivotal in spearheading innovation in biofabrication and remains at the forefront of this movement. Our involvement in the “ReGen Valley Common Campus”, a $10MM initiative, goes beyond refining workforce development; we are laying the groundwork for a new industry. Working alongside Dean Mike Decelle as the Principal Investigator, I am honored to serve as the Co-Investigator and assume the role of Executive Director of the Common Campus. This collaborative endeavor, in partnership with Manchester Community College NH and University of Massachusetts Lowell, focuses on creating educational pathways to meet the evolving needs of the biofabrication sector. Our collective aim is to cultivate a diverse talent pool that not only fuels biofabrication but also positions Southern New Hampshire as the national epicenter for this sector. I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with forward-thinking partners like Julie Lenzer, Jennifer MacDonald, MD, Sadie Reed Stimmell, and Amy Peterson and am eager to drive workforce development and innovation together. The future of biofabrication is right here in ReGen Valley! https://lnkd.in/e9-EnePz
