Yesterday we celebrated #NationalInternDay. Our interns presented their impressive summer projects, showcasing their hard work and achievements. To 'cap' off the day, they enjoyed a Whitecaps game at LMCU Ballpark! Here's to our talented interns who bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and boundless energy to our team! #NationalInternsDay #SummerInterns #FutureLeaders

Great opportunity to give back and help the next generation with a virtual aerospace competition!
Calling all Michigan Women in Aerospace! WAIAM is preparing for our third annual Michigan Girls Future Flight Challenge: a virtual, state wide competition for girls in 4th-8th grade. Teams of girls are challenged over a 4-week period in October-November to design a flight vehicle to solve 1 of 3 provided problem statements, navigating subjects of engineering, design, finance, marketing and business planning. A HUGE part of our success the last two years was partnering them for an hour of consultation with women who work in aerospace. If you are interested in learning how to mentor for Michigan Girls Future Flight Challenge and how to empower future women in the industry through visibility, representation, and mentorship, fill out our interest form for more information! One of the keys to success are strong partnerships......
I was able to spend some time with Brittany Telander the executive director of AIAMF (Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan Foundation) and take her around West Michigan earlier this week. We met with Keli Christopher, Ph.D. from STEM Greenhouse, Danielle Schneider from Women in Manufacturing, and Sara McMurray & Angela Kimber Ehlich from Women of Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan (WAIAM). I left each conversation so thankful and energized from the current and future collaboration that was discussed. West Michigan is filled with kind, caring, and passionate females who are leading with their hearts and souls to help lift others up in our diverse and under represented STEM community. There is definitely work that needs to be done, but conversations and collaborations like these are steps in the right direction!

Internships are a vital part of Array of Engineers. Every year we try to tweak, improve, expand, and enhance Array of Engineers' summer internship program. After talking with many high school students and teachers over the past year, we learned that many people don't go into engineering because they don't understand what an engineer actually does. We decided to include a small group of high school students in our internship program this summer who were interested in engineering, technology, and being creative. These students have been working on an internal project alongside college interns and full-time employees. They have learned how to solder, 3D print, create electrical cables, code simple embedded systems, and gained a basic knowledge of electrical engineering, mechanical systems, and Python coding. But most importantly, they have learned how to: work in a team environment; communicate with their peers; overcome technical challenges; be an advocate and ask questions to senior engineers, and what it means to work at an engineering technology company located right here in West Michigan. We have been immensely impressed by our high school interns this summer!! #highschoolinternship #summer2024 #futureengineers
