AI isn't just for creating content -- it's for deciding who needs what content and when.
For years, we marketers have tried to capture and use big data to learn more about our customers. Our cell phones, computers, tablets, and the Internet of Things (IoT) have collected massive amounts of data. But going through and making sense of that data could take you months or even years! Though the human mind is powerful, it is limited in its ability to process large data sets quickly. By using specialized algorithms, AI can now organize vast amounts of data and identify patterns and trends to predict how customers could act in the future. How does this help us? Tools like Salesforce Data Cloud integrate a company's data into one place. From there, AI uses your company's CRM and other data to identify buyer intent signals, which could include data from web actions, campaign engagement and social media activity. That data then helps AI decide which next best action is suitable to those customers, including personalized product recommendations, emails and other content. An example of how that could work out in a real campaign: As a customer interacts with a business, data is collected and AI suggests how the customer could be segmented for an ongoing email campaign. Over time, AI helps direct when that customer likes to open emails, what personalized content might be in that email, etc., based on the customer's actions. The result? A customer that is more engaged and feels that the company is anticipating and meeting her needs. (Did you know that Accenture reported that 91% shop more with brands that use personalization?)
