🌍 Partnerships in international development can either uplift communities or miss the mark entirely. Truly equitable partnerships go beyond surface-level cooperation—they require a shared understanding of culture, context, and power. We provide advocacy, community empowerment, and legal services to refugees 🌍. Proudly refugee-led
About us
Most of the world’s refugees spend decades or generations confined in camps, prohibited from working, or otherwise prevented from rebuilding their lives. Asylum Access was founded to change this. We are an international nonprofit founded to make refugee rights a reality in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Our advocates help refugees access their fundamental rights to safety, employment, education, and protection. Asylum Access believe all refugees deserve a fair chance at a new life. All over the world, we challenge barriers that keep refugees from living safely, moving freely, working and attending school – because when refugees can rebuild their lives, nations thrive. Asylum Access is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, USA.

We've seen firsthand the impact of harmful immigration policies. During the previous Trump administration, the barriers faced by displaced communities surged, and Asylum Access had to redouble our efforts in Asylum Access México to meet the growing demand. This meant expanding our work in Mexico, without the necessary increase in resources. In light of the US election results, we are deeply concerned about what lies ahead for human rights and forced displacement. We’re also worried about the reduced resettlement options that may affect our clients in Asylum Access Thailand and Asylum Access Malaysia. But we’re prepared to step up once again, relying on the generosity of our supporters. We stand with everyone feeling the fear of deportation, family separation, or detention. We stand with those enduring xenophobic and racist attacks fueled by hate speech. We stand with every individual supporting and defending the rights of immigrants and refugees in the US and across borders. We know our work is more crucial than ever. And we’re calling on friends and allies to continue supporting solutions that uphold dignity, safety, and justice for all. #SupportAsylumAccess #Refugees #ForcedDisplacement #RefugeesWelcome #HumanRights

UNRWA is the backbone of critical humanitarian aid system for Palestinian refugees in #Gaza and the West Bank. The decision by Israel to ban their operations is an unconscionable violation of the UN Charter and international humanitarian law that will have catastrophic consequences for the Palestinian people. #SaveUNRWA
For decades, UNRWA has been a lifeline for generations of Palestine refugees, offering essential services such as education, healthcare, shelter and more. Our colleagues are the largest providers of humanitarian aid in Gaza and their work is more indispensable than ever. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dhwUR-DR

At Asylum Access, we advocate for refugee rights where it’s needed the most. In #Mexico, #Malaysia, and #Thailand, refugees face immense challenges. We work to dismantle these barriers alongside refugee communities, ensuring that they have the tools and knowledge to fight for their rights and thrive. 🔎 In Asylum Access México we collaborate with forcibly displaced people navigating a broken asylum system, especially defending the rights of those left behind such as unaccompanied children ⚖️ In Asylum Access Malaysia we advocate for labor rights and access to justice, while promoting refugee leadership in every step of the way. ✊ In Asylum Access Thailand we advocate to secure safety for refugees at risk of arrest, deportation and exploitation. 🤝 Globally, we partner with institutions like UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, The World Bank and like minded NGOs to ensure refugee voices are heard and lead the way in policy changes that impact their lives. Help us build a world where forcibly displaced people can reclaim their rights and rebuild their lives. #SupportAsylumAccess #RefugeeRights #HumanRights #AsylumAccess #Donate #Refugees #Advocacy #Empowerment #LastingChange #RefugeeLeadership #ForcedDisplacement

🚨 For over 12 years, the number of forcibly displaced people has surged — driven by persecution, conflict, violence, and human rights violations. No matter the cause, when people flee their homes, they’re searching for safety and a chance to build a better future. Today, more than 122.6 million people are forcibly displaced worldwide. At Asylum Access, we fight for their rights globally and provide critical support services in Malaysia, Mexico, and Thailand. Help us drive meaningful change so refugees and forcibly displaced people can thrive, reclaim their rights, and rebuild their lives with dignity. Your support can make a lasting impact. #SupportAsylumAccess #RefugeeRights #Refugees #AsylumAccess #HumanRights #ForcedDisplacement

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are often overlooked in conversations about displacement, even though they make up over half of the forcibly displaced population worldwide. 🌍Did you know? Unlike refugees, who cross borders seeking safety, internally displaced people (IDPs) are forced to flee their homes but remain within their own country’s borders. Driven by conflict, violence, natural disasters, or human rights abuses, IDPs often lack access to basic services, protection, and aid. Although they face many of the same hardships as refugees, IDPs are still under their government’s jurisdiction, which may not always be able or willing to offer the support they need. Using correct terminology ensures no one is left behind. Let’s raise awareness and stand in solidarity with IDPs who need safety and support. 💙 #IDPs #HumanRights #SupportIDPs #DisplacementCrisis

On this #InternationalDayOfCareAndSupport, we honor the strength and commitment of refugees and displaced persons who care for their families under the most challenging circumstances. Whether they are parents working tirelessly to ensure their children thrive despite barriers to education, or individuals caring for elderly or disabled family members, these caregivers embody compassion and perseverance. 💪🏽❤️ At Asylum Access, we recognize their dedication and stand with them as they rebuild their lives. Care is more than survival—it’s about dignity, hope, and resilience. 🌱 ✨ How can you help? ➡️ Share their stories. ➡️ Advocate for policies that ensure access to education, healthcare, and essential rights. ➡️ Support inclusive systems that provide care for all. This #CareAndSupportDay, let’s celebrate those who continue to care, even when the world falls short. At the start of this year, we launched our first Accountability Toolkit to help NGOs apply the elements of #EquitablePartnerships to their joint projects with other organizations. Since then, we have assembled a cohort of 9 INGOs and 7 local partners to comprehensively trial the toolkit in their current partnership work. With their feedback and perspectives, we aim to co-design and launch an even better toolkit early next year. Here is some of the positive feedback we’ve received about the toolkit so far. If you want to try out our Accountability Toolkit, the current version is available to download in English and Spanish on our website. Otherwise, stay tuned for the improved version early next year! https://lnkd.in/ed9R-VSb #Partnerships #Equity #NGOResources #RethinkingHumanitarianism
