Here’s a general breakdown of what these areas are up to during the wet season: North Queensland: Reef Fishing: Although the Great Barrier Reef is a year-round destination for sport fishing, the weather can sometimes cause interruptions during the summer months. However, fish like coral trout, #RedEmperor, and reef species are still catchable, especially if the charters can navigate any weather disruptions. Mackeral and Pelagics: Spanish mackerel and other #pelagic species like tuna and giant trevally are often targeted during the wet season. The cooler water currents from the south can bring these fish closer to the coast. We are very excited to have come runners-up this year in the 41st Ladies Ribbon tournament, held on the 8th of Dec. Last year, we were the winners of the Ribbons Ladies Game Fishing Tournament in Cairns. This is a great result, with 21 boats competing. Yvette Maas caught her first Sailfish, while 16-year-old Skyla McShane, in the out-of-town angler category, caught her first Black Marlin and a Dolphin Fish.
