It’s time to get your candy bowls ready because Halloween is almost here. Although Halloween is a time of magic, for those on the autism spectrum, the sights, sounds and social dynamics of the holiday can be overwhelming. Victoria Handy, one of Autism Speaks’ Champions of Change, shared personal insights into how her and her daughter, Raine, make adjustments so they can celebrate Halloween as autistic individuals. She also shared tips on how businesses can be inclusive for those on the autism spectrum, one being Chuck E. Cheese, who will be hosting a Sensory Sensitive Sunday on October 27 as part of its “Boo-Tacular” program. "When businesses like Chuck E. Cheese make small changes, they not only win the loyalty of families like mine, but they also help normalize inclusion. My daughter doesn't feel excluded or 'different'—she gets to be a kid, just like everyone else." #celebrationsonthespectrum #spectrumcelebrations https://okt.to/pbf0TY

I'm grateful for the opportunity to participate in the World Health Organization Mental Health Forum in Geneva last week and reflect on the progress we’ve made in embracing neurodiversity. But our work isn’t done—true inclusion means ensuring all voices, especially those with higher support needs and from underrepresented communities, are heard. #healthequity #mhforum #nohealthwithoutmentalhealth #neurodiversity
“One of the things that has been really beautiful to explore is this ability to give grace to myself. That was something that my dad really instilled in me at a young age,” Tallulah, 30, exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, October 22, while discussing her upcoming appearance at the 2024 Autism Speaks Gala, where she is among the honorees. We can't wait to honor Tallulah tonight at our LA Gala! https://okt.to/QaGfkO

One day, while browsing YouTube, Robin Herrera came across the story of a surfer who used the sport as therapy for his autistic son. Before he could finish the video, Robin’s mind started racing with all the ways he could help the children in his home country of El Salvador by introducing them to a hobby that has been a big part of his life for the last thirty years. @Surftismo https://okt.to/PDT3tW
