Points I loved from our Founder Story about Mintlify today: 1️⃣ Han and Hahnbee have been building software to solve problems for a long time. School schedule managers. Celebrity soundboards. Cow tracking! They sold a community management product while still in college. 2️⃣ They iterated through a number of ideas before their current documentation platform. They worked hard to make adoption really easy for customers (white-glove support, steep discounts)--but realized they had product-market fit only once they didn't have to. 3️⃣ Mintlify is building their company for engineers. Their EPD organization has one recurring meeting a week. Everyone is in-person in San Francisco. Everyone gets together and dogfoods the product--while eating donuts. I've never seen so many things change so quickly all at once. Across technology, AI progress, culture, governance. There are no more sacred cows. So it's a good time to remind yourself: most people don't know much. Truly, the smartest people you know are mostly just guessing. Because this is all happening in real time, even the people who push the cutting edge have a very short head start. All the rules from conventional startup wisdom are being broken. Most of the thought leadership from the last era should be questioned. I've never seen so many companies grow so quickly, and can also lose their footing in an instant. It is chaos. Memes carry the culture and capture shared experience so well. The meme that encapsulates this unique moment in time best is the YOU CAN JUST DO THINGS meme. (A few favorites below.) Because it has to be. So, for everyone dunking on people putting out “dumb opinions” or "ai wrappers" or vc puff pieces or lame demos - are you going to wait until you're absolutely sure you're right? Or are you going to get out there and just try stuff out? Because every single moment in life I’ve felt paralyzed— by having too many choices, or too much change, or decisions made in the past— the only path forward is to do.
