  • The rate of global technological advancement has become exponential and adapting to this change - in parallel with significant geopolitical shifts - requires new business strategies and a focus on operational resilience. AI’s growth, the fragmentation of global trade, and the increase in protectionist policies are the challenges founders have to navigate in the global market. At Lightspeed, we surveyed nearly 1,000 C-level executives across 11 markets around the world to understand how this is impacting the decision-making of global leaders. Our Global Opportunity Map report shows key findings that technology is now about more than efficiency, regional strategies are replacing global ones, and investing in resilience is no longer optional. This report is made to help support builders use the insights to better shape the future of global business.  https://lnkd.in/e8FTReM8

  • Non-human identities like API keys, secrets, and service accounts are the foundation of modern IT, but they’ve often been overlooked in enterprise security. Lightspeed-backed Clutch Security is changing how businesses approach these challenges by bringing visibility, context, and Zero Trust controls to protect them. Congratulations to Clutch and its Co-Founders Ofir Har-Chen, Sagi Haas, and Tal Kimhi for securing $20M Series A funding—we’re excited to have participated in this round, and are proud to have been supporting this team since we led their seed. • For the last week, the world has been talking about the achievements of DeepSeek. And while their developments are impressive, DeepSeek’s achievements don’t mark the beginning of a new AI wave—but rather the final chapter of an era that has been building for years. DeepSeek has been focused on the scaling of pre-training, but the leading US labs, such as Anthropic, are focused on the future with a new post-training paradigm that’s pushing model capabilities forward. The large AI labs are working toward the end goal of developing AGI. That goal takes capital, talent, and capabilities to achieve, and we believe that they are uniquely set up to reach it. • Traditional enterprises adopting AI are experiencing up to 100x increases in data volumes compared to just a few years ago—yet only 20% of this data is actually valuable. The best part? AI can also be the solution to this problem. Observo AI is a platform that uses AI-driven optimization to create solutions to reduce data storage costs and improve security and operational insights. Co-Founders Gurjeet A. and Ricky S. Arora have built AI architecture that allows for real-time optimization through advanced machine learning and agentic AI. Their technology has already reduced data processing costs by over 50% for their customers, while improving detection accuracy and accelerating incident resolution by more than 40%. Congratulations to the entire Observo AI team on raising a $15M seed round—we’re proud to lead with Felicis Ventures. Today, constant and high-density electricity is in high demand and with the growth of AI that demand will only continue to grow exponentially. As a result, clean energy solutions that are accessible and can support always-on electricity are needed. That is where Helion comes in. Helion is creating the world’s first fusion power plant to deliver unlimited clean energy and generate zero-carbon electricity. Co-Founders David Kirtley, Chris Pihl, and George Votroubek have already succeeded in creating fusion energy with their Polaris and Trenta pulse-fusion prototypes. Their latest prototype, Polaris, is built to achieve electricity from fusion, which is a huge achievement for fusion energy. Congratulations to Lightspeed-backed Helion on their $425M Series F round. We believe that fusion is transforming energy production and Helion is leading the way. Read more about Helion: https://lnkd.in/eKBt6TVy Cc: Ravi Mhatre, Raviraj Jain, Taggart Bonham

  • Catching up on #WEF25? Take a look at some of the key takeaways from two sessions at The Lighthouse around the future of AI: → The rise of AI calls for a new mindset: collaboration over ego, expertise over hierarchy. Businesses that adapt will lead the way. → Today, AI acts as a co-pilot—boosting productivity and decision-making—but its role is evolving rapidly. → AI is unlocking new possibilities in healthcare by tackling inefficiencies and leveraging data to drive life-changing advancements. These insights came out of two thought-provoking discussions: In ‘The Global AI Race,’ Jim VandeHei and Dan Primack from Axios moderated a session with Lightspeed Partner Guru Chahal, Bill Ford, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of General Atlantic, and Chuck Robbins, Chair & Chief Executive Officer of Cisco, Business Roundtable. For ‘The Future of AI & Healthcare’ session, Mike Allen, Courtenay Brown, and Dan Primack from Axios hosted Brian Moynihan, CEO of Bank of America’s first interview of the day, Christophe Weber, President and CEO of Takeda, and Alexi Robichaux, Co-Founder & CEO of BetterUp.

    Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners

Today I’m joining Lightspeed, as Partner to lead Healthtech investing. I am thrilled to be joining Lightspeed – with $30 Billion in assets under management, offices globally including the healthtech hubs of NYC and the San Francisco Bay Area, and on the forefront of AI – at this critical moment when AI is reshaping the healthcare landscape. As a long-time champion of the “Doctorpreneur” community, I immediately felt at home with Lightspeed’s team (including Shaurya A., Shelley Chu, Galym Imanbayev, MD, Will Kohler, Jonathan MacQuitty, Naveed Matinfar, Bejul Somaia) investing across game-changing early, growth, and late stage healthcare companies, as well as physician-entrepreneurs within the portfolio such as with Abridge and Aledade, Inc.. Lightspeed’s Healthcare team has already invested over $1.25B across healthtech and biotech, and I’m honored to join Shelley Chu, MD/PhD in co-leading this effort. After nearly 6 years, I am eternally grateful to the AlleyCorp team, founders, and Kevin Ryan, a world-class leader, role-model, and friend. Excited to see what Alexi Nazem, my close friend since residency, will do at the helm! Thank you Dan Primack at Axios for covering the news here: https://lnkd.in/eqb46Ztu, and can find additional detail on Lightspeed’s blog: https://lnkd.in/e-x8DvWi If you’re building a new healthcare company or scaling one at the speed of light, and feel like I might be able to help you achieve your mission - please feel free to get in touch.
