At the British Diversity Awards last night, our group Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Gemma Webb, won the prestigious Head of Diversity of the Year Award. The event, founded by LGBT+ campaigner Linda Riley, celebrates diversity, equity and inclusion by recognising individuals and organisations who are striving to make workplaces, and society, more inclusive for all. Gemma has been a vocal advocate of supporting employees throughout their life-stages and has created industry and FTSE 100-leading benefits for maternity, paternity, and carers. The work includes face-to-face workshops across the business to embed inclusive behaviour, six employee lead Networks to support our people and hear their voice, and guidelines and toolkits to support both managers and employees on how to seek help on a range of topics. Gemma said: “Our team is working hard to make Barratt Redrow a place where difference is truly valued, where everyone can be themselves, and where nothing is a barrier to success. "I am thrilled to win the award, but it’s for everyone in our team and across the business as a whole.” #BDA25

Last month, Hari Budha Magar MBE FRGS hit new heights as the first double above-knee amputee to summit the highest peak outside of Asia. We are proud to be an official partner of Hari as he sets yet another world record, reaching the summit of Mount Aconcagua (6,960.8 m/ 22,837 ft), in Argentina. Hari, a former British Gurkha, became the first double above-knee to summit Mount Everest in 2023 - and is now aiming to complete the seven highest summits in the world within the next 12 months. He has completed five of the seven highest summits so far, and will climb the remaining two in Oceania and Antarctica to achieve his goal. If successful, Hari will break new boundaries as the first double above-knee amputee to complete the seven summits – an accomplishment that only 500 people in history have ever achieved.

We are proud to partner with York College to support a talented cohort of female apprentices in their journey to become fully-qualified bricklayers. Through a combination of industry-leading college learning and practical on-site experience, these Level 2 Apprentices are already making a significant impact in our business. Among them, Becky Barribal has discovered that bricklaying provides structure and focus, helping her manage ADHD, while Faith Banthorpe is fulfilling her long-held ambition of working in the housebuilding industry. Their dedication, along with that of their peers, is shaping the future of construction. With the government's commitment to accelerating housebuilding and addressing the national trade skills shortage, there has never been a better time to develop a skill in the trades. Since 2024, we have significantly increased female representation in our Trade Apprenticeship Programme intake from an industry-standard 2-6% to 36%. We are dedicated to driving positive change and continue to #BuildWithoutBarriers. Through internal employee networks such as SheBuilds, we provide peer-to-peer support, networking, and signposting to resources for women working on-site. For those interested in pursuing a career in housebuilding, our apprenticeship programmes offer all the tools you need to launch your career in an industry where you'll always be in demand. 🔗 Learn more about our Trade Apprenticeship Programme https://lnkd.in/gVQgxXAu #Apprenticeships #Bricklaying #FutureBuilders

Claire Jarvis, Barratt David Wilson Homes’ North West Managing Director, spoke about the power of partnerships to deliver sustainable housing at scale at a recent Insider Media property leaders event. At the Shaping Housing event, Claire was joined on the panel by Phil Marsden from Muse and Adrian Fisher from Trafford Council to discuss how SME and large housebuilders are partnering with local authorities to overcome hurdles in planning to deliver the homes that the country needs. Baroness Sharon Taylor of Stevenage, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Housing and Local Government, gave an address by video to reinforce the Government's commitment to reform planning and unlock land to support development. Baroness Taylor also spoke about the importance of Modern Methods of Construction in the UK to build more homes whilst staying on the road to net zero. Claire outlined our aim to boost the manufacture of timber frame homes to 9,000 a year from our factories as part of our journey towards building net zero homes at scale. #Sustainability #ShapingHousing

From day one, government has shown that it is serious about tackling the housing crisis and reforming the planning system to bring forward high quality new homes and infrastructure projects. Following a meeting at Number 10 earlier this week, our CEO David Thomas spoke to Radio 4’s Today programme about the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, and the strong action government is taking to build the homes the country needs. Building new houses and apartments means more homes for local people, more investment in communities, more good jobs and career opportunities, and stronger economic growth across the country. We are celebrating International Women’s Day and reflecting on the progress made towards gender equality and the challenges that remain. Despite significant steps forward, the housebuilding industry remains a predominately male industry, with women representing around 15% of the UK’s construction workforce. Syd Atifeh joined us through our ASPIRE Graduate Programme and has progressed to Site Manager, leading and overseeing our ‘Somer Meadows’ development in Bristol. Reflecting on her career, Syd shared, “I’d love to see more women on-site. A more diverse workforce helps us better understand the different perspectives of trades, subcontractors, and customers, but I don’t think it’ll be long until we get there. I’m proud to break down barriers and prove that housebuilding is a career for everyone.” Yesterday, Under One Roof, our employee network supporting gender equality, recognised International Women’s Day (IWD) by hosting a session focused on allyship and how we can support women and girls in pursuing a career in our industry. With over 150 attendees, the event featured Mike Scott, CFO and Executive Sponsor of the network, alongside a panel of our colleagues. We are committed to nurturing a diverse community and highlighting how a career in construction can be rewarding for all. #IWD #UnderOneRoof #BuildingWithoutBarriers

🔍 Who spotted Redrow on TV last weekend? We welcomed People’s Postcode Lottery to Tabley Park in Knutsford to film its latest TV advert. Our homes provided the picture-perfect backdrop for the famous red lorry, which was joined on site by an all-star cast of Emma Willis, Davina McCall, Fred Sirieux and Mike Wedderburn. The advert debuted during The Brit Awards on ITV at the weekend but don’t worry if you missed it, it’s featuring on Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky in the run up to the spring draw deadline on 31st March. Redrow NW sales director Anna Evans-Kerr, said: “It was wonderful to welcome the People’s Postcode Lottery team to Tabley Park. The homes we’re building here are from our traditionally styled Arts and Crafts inspired Heritage Collection and have been designed around green spaces, creating not only a beautiful place to live, but a real sense of community. Our picture-perfect aspirational homes and the scenic location made it the ideal backdrop for the advert.” People's Postcode Lottery sees players signing up with their postcode. Since launching in 2005, players have raised more than £1.4 billion for thousands of charities and local good causes. You can find out more here: https://bit.ly/3F7onZV
