  • As data experts, we love sharing our findings and expertise with our partners, which is one way we can build community. Most recently, we worked with the Miami Epidemiology Network as part of a coalition movement across the U.S. to prevent drug and alcohol use among youth. To help them in their needs assessment for #MiamiDadeCounty, we provided data reflecting the work of some of our partners funded through prevention block grant dollars by Thriving Mind South Florida. We presented alongside top local organizations in substance use spaces, such as the South Dade One Voice Community Coalition, HIALEAH COMMUNITY COALITION, and Coalicion de Esperanza por una Comunidad Libre de Drogas (Flagami area of MDC). Our data, graphics, and insight were used with several other sources of #data to fill in different gaps, allowing the Miami Epidemiology Network team to identify the relevant trends in local youth alcohol and drug consumption habits and consider solutions to address them. Do you think your organization could benefit from a more thorough data analysis? Email us at info@bsrinstitute.org, and let’s discuss it! #BSRI #DataForAction #SouthFlorida

  • Happy HR Professionals Appreciation Day! Today, we celebrate the vital role that Human Resources (HR) and People Operations play in every industry, especially within mission-driven non-profits like BSRI. HR isn’t just about managing processes—it's about empowering people, which is at the heart of every successful organization. Investing in thoughtful HR practices and strategic people management ensures you attract, retain, and develop the talent needed to make a real impact. Some principles our Director of HR & People, Melanie Gonzalez, uses to guide her thinking include: ⭐ Prioritizing employee well-being and mental health. ⭐ Creating a culture of reciprocity through continuous feedback and mentorship. ⭐ Adopt flexible work arrangements so the team can practice a healthy work-life balance while meeting client needs. ⭐ Focus on professional development and strategic planning to prepare the organization for future challenges while staying resilient and mission-focused. By prioritizing HR and, by extension, its people, any organization can build resilient teams equipped to drive its mission forward and make a lasting impact on the communities it serves. #BSRI #WorkCulture #HRAppreciationDay #Peopleleaders #HR

  • Did you know #data is one of the best tools for effective storytelling? Whether through understanding a group’s lived experience or seeing the impact of an issue through numbers,  you can see the themes and trends that spur insightful decision-making within an organization. At BSRI, as part of our client services, we create custom #dataproducts that clearly communicate key findings, while promoting shared understanding and communication within an organization along with stakeholders and beneficiaries. As part of our partnership with United Way of Broward County, we prepared this report titled "Veteran Suicide: Key Statistics and Prevention Efforts" that was given to guests visiting the local UWBC offices. Are you interested in learning how we can use data to drive action at your organization? Email us at info@bsri.org. #BSRI #DataForAction #DataAsAnArtForm

  • Long weekends are the best, right? 😎 This summer, we piloted our ‘Summer 4-Days’ initiative, allowing our team to enjoy a four-day workweek—every week! To make the most of this extra time, we introduced wellness challenges, encouraging everyone to engage in physical activity, mindfulness, and quality time with loved ones. This initiative wasn't just about shorter workweeks but about fostering a work culture that prioritizes productivity and personal well-being. By integrating wellness into our daily lives, we can build a workplace where everyone can thrive professionally and personally. In speaking with our team, the response has been incredible! Across the organization, people embraced the chance to recharge, explore new places, and prioritize well-being. The photos say it all! 📸 We’re excited to continue creating an environment where balance, health, and success go hand in hand.
