Bend. Don’t break. Whole family mental health care.

About us

Bend Health, Inc. is a national provider of pediatric mental health for kids, teens, young adults, and their families. We believe whole family mental health starts with a strong foundation of resilience to cope with whatever life blows your way. Our peer-reviewed results demonstrate that more than 80% of members enrolled in Bend feel better within 60 to 90 days. We are revolutionizing the treatment of mental health conditions for kids and teens through a novel data-driven technology platform and evidence-based collaborative care model that enables the first scalable and integrated care solution in mental health. Through coaching, therapy and reduced time to evaluation and treatment by licensed pediatric psychiatry experts, our approach achieves better outcomes and results in happier, healthier kids and teens, while ensuring stigma, cost, and logistics are no longer barriers to care. Our founding team has been in both technology and healthcare for nearly twenty years, as individual contributors, and executives, in both private practices and at companies including Oracle, Optum, UnitedHealth Group and Teladoc Health.

The latest peer-reviewed study from our #science team highlights the continued need for screening and rapid access to mental health support for youth. With hospitalization rates for suicidal ideation or attempts doubling between 2008 and 2015, we’re proud of The study in JMIR Formative Research shows that Bend’s screening for self-harm and suicide risk not only identifies risk early, but that the care youth receive significantly improves their anxiety and depression symptoms. https://lnkd.in/eQxtKjTM

A new report published in The Lancet Psychiatry this week makes it clear that we’re not just dealing with individual mental health crises among youth—there are larger societal issues at play, from economic instability to climate change. We have known the the impact on mental health of our youth does not typically have one inciting event, but multiple that build up over time. Specifically 1 in 3 young adults and older who are diagnosed with a mental health conditions are directly related to ACEs (Adverse Childhood Events). This report highlights that the causes of mental health conditions are multifactorial. However, we are at a critical point where the declining mental health of youth today will serious impact the adults of tomorrow. To make real progress, we must rethink our approach by addressing the root causes that are affecting young people’s mental health on a global scale and investing in early intervention and support, both at the individual level, but inclusive of youths’ caregivers and social ecosystem. The stakes are too high for today’s youth to continue down the same path! With the Olympics coming to an end and fall sports just around the corner, it's the perfect time to think about what’s on your young athletes' pre-game playlist. Whether it’s a fast-paced pump-up hip-hop track, their favorite Taylor Swift classic or a mental health warm-up to set a positive mindset, what they listen to can make a big difference!
