The Clark team was thrilled to join The Johns Hopkins University for the dedication ceremony of the new JHU Bloomberg Center at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC. Located in the heart of the nation's capital, the 420,000-square-foot academic facility lives in the former Newseum building. The redesign includes 38 high-tech classrooms, a 375-seat theatre, study spaces, lounges, conference rooms, media suites, and several roof terraces with stunning views of Pennsylvania Avenue and the Capitol. The structural renovation design included removing over half of four large floors between levels 1 through 6, a "floating" classroom, and major structural and architectural alterations to introduce more natural sunlight and square footage. The building was designed to encourage collaboration and informal gatherings, and to root the university's international, business, performing arts, and government studies in DC. The opening celebration was marked with remarks by the university president, Mayor Bowser of Washington, DC, and Michael Bloomberg, for whom the facility is named, plus an open house for students, faculty, and community members. Allow us to introduce you to one of the largest scoreboards in Major League Baseball. If you’ve been following along with the #NLCS, you’ve probably noticed the latest addition to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The new left field scoreboard, or ‘PhanaVision’ as the Philadelphia Philadelphia Phillies dubbed it, is 152 feet wide and 86 feet tall – 77 % larger than the previous display. For size reference, the new scoreboard can display 516 life-size Philly Phanatics. EwingCole’s Sports & Entertainment team, the original designers of Citizens Bank Park, partnered with our structural engineers to design the support system for the new board. The 116,300 lb scoreboard is supported by 190 tons of structural steel 🏗️ Designed by Daktronics, PhanaVision contains nearly 11.6 million pixels and a 4K-capable HDR system that illuminates the field in high-definition color and clarity, adding to the already electric atmosphere at CBP. Special S/O to our friends at LF Driscoll and The Berlin Steel Construction Company. And as always….GO PHILLIES! ⚾️
