"Volunteering as a Big Sister helps me keep in mind the importance of being present and connecting with others. During the experiences we share together, we challenge ourselves to try new things and laugh as we find ourselves trying more than doing. I love spending time together since it helps both of us grow in different, but equally rewarding, ways." That is a heartwarming quote from Big Sister Danielle about her Little Sister, Michelle! 💫 These photos capture their latest adventure at Bumbershoot Aerial Arts, proving that mentorship can be full of fun and memorable moments. 🌟 Ready to make a difference? Apply to be a Big and create lasting memories with your Little! The opportunity is in your hands. ✨ https://lnkd.in/dxKhyhfG #BBBSEMO #BigSisterLittleSister

Congratulations on this amazing and deserved recognition, Brittney Swicionis! We are better because of YOU!
Associate Regional Director of ABCToday and Franchise Owner, Board & Brush Creative Studio- Cape Girardeau, MO
I am still in awe of being named Young Professional of the Year at the Annual Dinner for the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce last night. As I shared in my brief remarks, this past year was tough and I really didn’t feel deserving of this award. I often say when life throws your moldy lemons, you still have to find a way to make lemonade. But this past year made me kinder and more compassionate as a non profit leader and business owner. 10 1/2 years ago, I moved to this welcoming community to finish my degree. Looking back, what a journey! Truly thankful for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri and Board & Brush Creative Studio to be written in my story. Each day, I shut down my computer and reflect on how I supported or advocated for youth. Tonight was an extension of my workday. Many of us have a mentor we can call or seek advice from. I started with BBBSEMO 10 years ago as a Big Sister. If you have 4 hours a month consider being a Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Couple or Big Family to one of the 150 kids and teens on our waiting list at BBBSEMO. To all the young professionals, your time is coming. Stay focused, serve with an open heart, and find joy in the journey. To all the employers, you all have remarkable young professionals on your teams. Involve them in the conversations, mentor them to the best of your ability and unlock their strengths. Most importantly to all, just be kind and be the best version of yourself. 💚✌🏼💡
