We are thrilled to launch our newest #biomimicry thought leadership paper developed in collaboration with our Project Positive partner EcoMetrix Solutions Group, LLC: Nature is Positive | How leveraging Nature’s ecosystem performance benchmarks enables nature positive action today. Amid the urgency of #biodiversity loss and the emergence of a dynamic regulatory environment to address it, organizations around the world are asking: How do we choose which #naturepositive actions will yield the intended outcomes? What does success look like? To help answer these questions and more, this paper introduces the proven biomimicry approach centered around a core tenet of biomimicry, Nature as Measure, and demonstrated through our work at #ProjectPositive: Evaluate the ecosystem performance of solutions against Nature’s proven benchmarks. The Biomimicry Institute and New York University's More-Than-Human Life (MOTH) Program are joining forces to champion a bold new idea at #COP16 in Cali, Colombia: it’s time to give #Nature the credit it deserves for inspiring human #innovation. Their novel collaboration aims to ensure that profits from biomimetic innovations contribute directly to conservation efforts by closing a major loophole in current legal frameworks, ensuring that Nature benefits from the designs and technologies they help create. Join Cesar Rodriguez-Garavito (MOTH, NYU Law) and Janine Benyus in a More Than Human Life joint panel at the Museo de Tertulia in Cali on October 29 (TODAY!) where they will explore the pressing issue of biopiracy in the contemporary world. #biomimicry #regenerative

Leading companies are proving that aligning with #Nature can drive both ecological and business success. Organizations like Microsoft are at the forefront, transforming their North Holland datacenter to create mutual value. By planting native trees, creating pollinator habitats, and integrating green spaces, they’ve not only enhanced local #biodiversity but also created a healthier work environment and increased their social license to operate. Learn how your organization can leverage these insights to drive #sustainability and #innovation. We know that a future informed by #Nature will enable all species to thrive. As the world discussed the challenges ahead and solutions for our planet at #ClimateWeekNYC, we were honored to have our #biomimicry work included in these key conversations. See reflections from B3.8's Nicole Miller. What were some key highlights you have seen/heard from NY Climate Week? Anything surprise or inspire you? #regenerative #sustainableinnovation #itspossible #nycw
As I reflect on #ClimateWeek activities, meetings, and panels I am mixed with emotions of joy, hope, inspiration, curiosity, frustration, overwhelm, and impatience. 🌱 Several incredible initiatives, programs, and organizations inspired me. A few that were not on my radar - 1000 Landscapes For 1 Billion People, World Resources Institute's LandmarkMap.org, and the Unlock Project hosted by The Fashion Pact - such brilliant and vital work! Thank you. 🦋 It was a welcome relief to be among friends and peers at Nature4Climate Nature Positive Hub where #nature and #climate were not separate conversations. It was a joy to co-present with Christopher Lee Allen of Jacobs to share the work of #ProjectPositive and the release of the Nature IS Positive report by Biomimicry 3.8 and EcoMetrix Solutions Group, LLC. Thank you, Lucy Almond and Jen Stebbing for holding the space for corporations and collaborators to share the journey and learnings of #naturepositive actions. 🦉 Paul Polman's ability to address the polycrisis while instilling hope was awe-inspiring. Thank you Eva von Alvensleben and The Fashion Pact for hosting, and I hope you share the recording! 👣 The theme of #itsTIME was a bit tone deaf to me. While I appreciate the effort to motivate action, it's been time for decades. Future generations deserve better then this. 🐝 It was a highlight to celebrate The Biomimicry Institute and the launch of their new strategy. Congrats Amanda Sturgeon, FAIA, and team for this important milestone! Thank you for including me in your panel and to Andrew Howley for your thoughtful questions and facilitation. I am so grateful to the entire TBI team for convening biomimicry fans, practitioners, and supporters... and providing a much-needed dose of nature at COOKFOX Architects. 😮 I was surprised and impressed to learn the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has committed $20 Billion to invest in circular manufacturing in the U.S. I am eager to see how they will hold companies accountable for this?? Thank you Ellen MacArthur Foundation for bringing together cross-sector change agents. 🪷 Connecting with friends, colleagues, and peers, both old and new, was the most fulfilling part of the week. I am inspired by your willingness to collaborate, challenge business as usual, and your courage to demonstrate what is possible. And to have some fun along the way! I am now very much looking forward to a restful weekend home, with family and nature...that's the force that keeps me going. Yesterday at #climateweekNYC, Biomimicry 3.8's Managing Director Nicole Miller was joined by Christopher Lee Allen from Jacobs to present on nature tech solutions at Nature4Climate's Nature Positive Hub. Together, they showcased how #biomimicry in the built environment can transform our projects into catalysts not only for #regenerative impact that goes beyond project boundaries, but also for the powerful reimagining of humanity’s relationship with #Nature into one of reciprocity. They also shared our new paper, Nature is Positive, developed in collaboration with our partner EcoMetrix Solutions Group, LLC. Link below! Tonight, you can find Nicole and our #ProjectPositive Manager, Casey Rowland, at The Biomimicry Institute's "Nature-Inspired Solutions for a Sustainable Future" event for the unveiling of their 10-year strategy, marking their commitment to a nature-positive, inclusive, and regenerative world. Tomorrow, Nicole and Casey be at a networking reception for nature-inspired climate startups featuring the 2024 Ray of Hope Accelerator participants. We hope to see you there! #NYCW #itspossible #climateweek #climatesolutions
