🌩️3.6 billion people, nearly half of the global population, are currently considered highly vulnerable to climate change impacts. This number will continue to rise as global temperatures keep climbing. ❌Yet global progress on climate adaptation has been small-scale, slow and fragmented, coming up short of the world's need. 🎯Despite its limited progress since its inclusion to the Paris Agreement in 2015, Global Goal on Adaptation aims to address this shortfall by providing a clear framework and targets for measuring progress. 👉Get the latest picture from our updated article by WRI Climate: https://lnkd.in/djsSMbfc #climate #climatechange #adaptation #climateadaptation #globalgoal #GGA #ParisAgreement #climateaction #climateresilience #update

🥛Which milk is your favorite?🥛 When it comes to environmental impact, not all milks are equal, finds WRI Food's latest research. According to our data: 🫛Pea protein milk is the sustainable choice, with soy being a close second 🌿Compared to cow’s milk, plant-based milks generate roughly 1/3 or less emissions 💧Most plant-based milks also use considerably less water than cow’s milk Get the research👉 go.wri.org/milk-impact-li #milk #plantbased #plantbasedmilk #climate #climateimpact #dietchange #climateaction #dairy #environmentalimpact #nutrition #waterusage #peamilk #soymilk #almondmilk #oatmilk #coconutmilk #cowsmilk Coolfood

🏭Over the last several years, state and federal decarbonization policies have driven a rapid increase in the production & consumption of bio-based diesel. 💢But with a limited supply of sustainable feedstocks as well as uncertainties around pollution and impacts on workers and communities, a shift to “biorefineries” could be misguided and requires careful consideration. Prioritizing watershed restoration and conservation, city leaders can ensure that urban growth is water-resilient and creates lasting benefits🏙️🌱💧 #Watersheds are the natural area of land that drain into a common body of water. The consequences of their #degradation are threefold. Without tree cover and healthy soils to absorb rainfall, #cities may lose a critical source for groundwater recharge, leading to water shortages. Not only does the quantity of #water suffer, so does its quality. Without strong roots to protect and anchor the soil, sediment and the chemicals within it are washed into nearby water bodies, often the primary source for a city’s drinking water. That same runoff can turn into floodwater. Many cities that once depended on their watersheds for water now face both increasing scarcity and heightened vulnerability to #extremeweather. There are, however, #naturebasedsolutions to help alleviate these problems. Learn how watershed restoration efforts are starting to deliver positive results in 3 African cities➡️ https://lnkd.in/er_QgP3H

🏘️Africa’s cities, from large metropolises to smaller towns, are increasingly characterized by growing urban sprawl. 🌊As cities expand into their hinterlands, they encroach upon watersheds essential to water supply and climate resilience. Many cities depending on their watersheds now face both increasing scarcity and heightened vulnerability to extreme weather. 💡There are, however, nature-based solutions to help alleviate these problems. Through a combination of upland foresting and urban greening, watershed restoration efforts are starting to deliver positive results in three African cities👉 https://lnkd.in/er_QgP3H #africa #africancities #water #climate #rivers #naturebased #naturebasedsolutions #nbs #riverrestoration #restoration #Kigali #DireDawa #Johannesburg #watersheds #climateregulation #urbanization #nature
