Building Collaborative GenAI as CEO @ BoodleBox. Founding teams: boodleAI, Fluet Law Firm, MAG Aerospace, AA21, ADG, Chisel.

The BoodleBox team had a fantastic experience sponsoring and presenting at the Teaching & Learning with AI: A Sharing Conference Between Educational Practitioners hosted by the University of Central Florida last week. The best part: meeting with and learning from the over 850 staff, faculty, and administrators from over 150 colleges and universities who are taking the lead on AI in the college classroom. Our three takeaways: 1. The #1 concern among those new to teaching with AI: How do I get started?  The #1 concern among those not-new to teaching with AI: How do I get my colleagues started?  There’s still a massive amount of friction for professors to overcome on how to start with responsible AI in the college classroom. 2. Those teaching with AI should consider the value of assessing the process of using AI alongside assessing the product from using AI.  AI challenges traditional educational assessment tools like essays because the “product” can be easily produced by AI.  I met leaders like Mike Kentz M.A.T., M.A. who are proposing thoughtful alternatives. 3. Equitable access to top tier AI is a growing issue. Students who can afford it are paying for and using premium AI. The genies are well out of the bottle, but not everyone can afford to talk to the best genies.    What is BoodleBox doing to address the above? 1. We’re making BoodleBox more tailored and easy to use for educators. Example: Imagine having an AI Teaching Assistant that can talk you through step by step how to revise an existing class assignment to incorporate responsible collaboration with AI … and then creates the grading rubric.  No knowledge of prompt engineering required. 2. We’re releasing features that make it easy for students to share how they used AI with professors and for professors to understand and help assess what the student shared.  Example: Imagine being able to have students discuss a class reading with an AI teaching assistant and then asking that AI teaching assistant what learning objectives students seem to be struggling with the most. 3. We’re making equitable access to top tier AI not just a reality, but a mission. More to follow on this, but students can already pay $16/month for access to AIs through BoodleBox that would otherwise cost $100 or more in total.  Note: The conference keynote was delivered by José Antonio Bowen, the author of "Teaching with AI", who did a magnificent job challenging current beliefs while opening eyes to potential futures. Flower Darby then provided an inspiring and rousing closing to the conference. We’re also delighted to share that, by the end of the Conference, over 120 staff, faculty, and administrators from 85 colleges and universities had requested a BoodleBox pilot (that’s over 50% of the institutions in attendance).  Jason Gulya Lance Cummings T. I just cancelled my ChatGPT subscription. Here's why: ‣ Usage: Most of my chats now happen in BoodleBox, which allows collaboration with multiple models on top of my own customized knowledge base. Why restrict myself to just one model? ‣ Cost: Using OpenAI's API to integrate GPT technology with other tools doesn't require a subscription. Paying by token is more cost-effective than a $20 monthly fee. That's where I spend most of my effort and money. ‣ Data Security: The API has stricter data security protocols, a crucial factor as businesses increasingly adopt OpenAI technology. ‣ Flexibility: I can build things with the API, instead of being locked into ChatGPTs interface and design. In the end, it's all about finding the right tools that offer the best value for your specific needs. If you are a builder (not just a user), then ChatGPT doesn't really fit the bill anymore.

It was an incredible day 1 at the Teaching and Learning with AI conference hosted by the University of Central Florida! We've met so many people using AI in so many different ways. Here are some of the reasons attendees have told us that they are here: - To bring AI back to their institution and share resources with their colleagues - To learn how to incorporate AI into their classroom assignments - To understand how to use AI for brainstorming projects - To learn more about AI and evaluate how they should and could apply it These are only a few ways people have voiced their excitement at this conference. We are excited to continue learning and engaging with so many incredible educators!
