Brazeway Adrian's Engineering Technician Dan Solis is serving as Campaign Co-Chair for the Lenawee Cares Advisory Board and is shown here with members of the HOPE Community Center awarding funding from this year's campaign. “Brazeway Believes” works with the Lenawee Cares Campaign as an effective way for employees to donate to important causes in our community. The annual fundraising campaign, implemented in 2016, provides grants and designations to local nonprofit organizations with a specific focus of meeting the basic needs of individuals in our community. Donations are accepted each fall and grant recipients are selected the following spring. The Lenawee Cares Advisory Board, a group of community leaders, oversees the process with support from Lenawee Community Foundation staff. The Lenawee Cares Advisory Board is made up of community volunteers who review community data, assess community needs, and make recommendations for funding where gifts can make the greatest impact. To date nearly $4 million has been granted to local programs. Part of Brazeway's Code of Conduct states that "support each other, including our families and our communities." Thanks to Dan for his work on this initiative, and to all of our employees who give time and treasure to make our communities better.

Challenge House is an outreach to underprivileged teens in our community. Their AT&T Program (Attitude, Training & Teamwork) is an annual program for high school students in which participating organizations/businesses in the community teach one-hour classes the week of July 8. They are taught career paths, employment opportunities, everything from how to complete a resume to how to ace an interview. Brazeway Kentucky’s plant manager, Steve Wilson and Lee Malesh, Sustainability Coordinator, spoke to the students at Challenge House #7 on Thursday, July 11. There are other local businesses and organizations, including our local community college, health department, Army, etc., so they had a broad range of speakers. Brazeway provided an ice cream snack for the students, and they also receive $200.00 from Challenge House and a Dell laptop computer for completing the program.
