We are pleased to announce that our geothermal project for The Beresford cooperative in NYC has been recognized by Engineering News-Record NY in their 2024 Best Projects list. This acknowledgement from one of the most respected publications in the engineering and design profession is a testament to the innovation and expertise of the Brightcore Energy team. The project successfully integrated a geothermal heating and cooling system into the building’s existing mechanical equipment as part of a system retrofit. It showcased several engineering and design innovations and employed our proprietary Urban Geo product. Urban Geo leverages cutting-edge design and drilling technology to seamlessly incorporate geothermal systems into space-constrained areas the built environment-in this case, withing the footprint of the building itself!. This groundbreaking approach, coupled with solutions developed by our engineers and Center of Excellence team in Sweden, were key to the project's success. "This achievement underscores that with a dedicated team, a focus on innovation, and the willingness to challenge the status quo, remarkable outcomes can be realized." said Michael Richter, President of Brightcore Energy. Beyond recognition, this award underscores that geothermal is a feasible, energy-efficient and cost-effective solution for heating and cooling buildings. Members of our NYC innovation team recently visited our COE office in Stockholm, where they had the chance to explore Scandinavian geothermal installations spanning from Copenhagen to Stockholm. During their visit, the team toured facilities hosting various thermal energy networks, including exciting new projects that are driving the rise of geothermal systems both in Sweden and in the U.S. This hands-on experience provided invaluable collaboration and knowledge transfer with innovators who have been perfecting these systems for decades. Tack för din gästfrihet, Sweden! Thank you for having us✨ Brightcore. BUILDING. ENERGY. PERFORMANCE #GeothermalEnergy #GlobalCollaboration #BrightcoreEnergy #CleanEnergy #Decarbonization

Recent Climate Central study highlights the impact of New York City's urban heat island (UHI) effect, which is driving up temperatures for over 6 million residents and straining the city’s energy grid. However, increased energy usage during peak hours to cool residents across the city poses a significant risk to the security of New York's energy grid due to strain. As heatwaves push energy usage to its limits, ground-source heat pumps offer a more efficient and cost-effective solution compared to air-source pumps. With residents being urged to limit their energy usage during various hours of the day due to heatwave extremes, resourceful cooling technologies like ground-source heat pumps shine in events like this over other options like air-source pumps in overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness. These pumps use stable, 55-degree air from the bedrock to cool buildings, reducing grid strain and enhancing energy security. Extreme weather presents a prime opportunity for building owners to consider sustainable cooling alternatives like ground-source heat pumps. There's no better opportunity for building owners and developers to explore alternatives to heating and cooling buildings that reduce grid strain, enhance energy security and effectively cool residents. To learn more about ground-source heat pumps, contact Brightcore. Read more about the UHI here: https://hubs.ly/Q02LYBSf0. Brightcore. BUILDING. ENERGY.
