How you deliver your baby can impact your heart health! You can't always choose how you deliver, but knowing the potential risks will help you shape your recovery and what to look for. Adjusting for hospital characteristics, patient characteristics, hypertensive disorders, and diabetic disorders, it was found that cesarean deliveries were associated with an increase in cardiovascular morbidity in previously health patients. While the physiologic relationship remains unclear, increased fluid shifts, prolonged hypomobility, higher blood loss, hypothermia, and overall stress state triggered by cesarean surgery may affect Cardiovascular Disease risk in the postpartum period.
