Lauren brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served on our Board of Directors for the last 5 years. Her background in education, psychology, and behavior analysis provides a unique and valuable perspective. Board member, Eric Barger, has stepped into the Vice Chair position. Eric's expertise in business and insurance, combined with his strong Christian values, are a tremendous asset to the leadership team. We extend our deepest gratitude to Larry Bayer for his outstanding service as our past Board Chair. Larry's background in community development and his dedication as a church elder proved invaluable during his tenure. His leadership has significantly impacted Brook Lane. We look forward to his continued service as a Brook Lane board member. We would like to give a warm welcome to our newest board members who joined us on July 1st: • Wayne Alter, a leader in both business and security. • Reverend Dr. D. Stuart Dunnan, an educator and faith leader with extensive experience. Their expertise and passion will undoubtedly strengthen Brook Lane's mission and propel us forward. You're Not Alone: Climbing the Mountain of Grief Losing a loved one, especially a child, can feel like the world has shifted beneath your feet. It's an isolating experience, and navigating work while grappling with such deep pain can feel like scaling a mountain in a blizzard. The good news: You're not alone. Here are some tips to help you navigate this challenging climb: Acknowledge the Climb: Your grief is real and deserves attention. Don't be afraid to let your manager know you're facing a difficult time. Self-Care is Your Gear: Just like packing essentials for a climb, focus on taking care of yourself. Make time for breaks, healthy meals, and activities that bring you comfort. Talk to your manager about adjustments that might help you manage your workload. Find Your Support Group: Connecting with others who understand your loss can be invaluable. Consider joining a support group or exploring online resources dedicated to bereaved parents. Communication is Key: Be open with your manager about your needs. Talk about workload adjustments, emotional support, or time off that might help you manage. Don't Hesitate to Seek Professional Support: Therapists can provide tools for managing your emotions and coping with grief. Don't hesitate to seek help if you feel overwhelmed. The pain of losing a child is a lifelong journey. But with self-care, support, and the cherished memories of your loved one, there is a path forward. Consider talking honestly (and as openly as you're comfortable) with your manager and colleagues. They may be able to offer support you didn't know existed. While the mountain of grief will always be a part of your landscape, with the right support, you can find peace. For information on therapy options: 301-733-0330 #BereavedParentsMonth #BrookLane
