The district is seeking an attorney or firm well versed in education law, particularly federal and state statutory and case law governing public education, civil service, human resources, and general municipal matters in North Carolina.   • Lewis Approved as New Principal of South Brunswick High School FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 24, 2024 BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC - At Tuesday’s Brunswick County Board of Education Committee Meeting, Dr. Brad Lewis was approved as the next principal of South Brunswick High School. Lewis will replace Michael “Chip” Hodges as he will retire at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Since 2021, Dr. Lewis has served as principal of Holly Shelter Middle School in Castle Hayne, NC. Under the leadership of Dr. Lewis, Holly Shelter Middle School was recognized as the #1 Title One school in North Carolina and ranked in the Top 5 schools overall for student growth in the state. This remarkable achievement reflects his dedication and ability to lead schools to excellence. He served as assistant principal and athletic director at John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC, from 2018-2021, and assistant principal at Williston Middle School in Wilmington, NC, from 2016-2018. Dr. Lewis is no stranger to Brunswick County Schools as he began his career in education serving as a teacher and coach at West Brunswick High School from 2001-2012. Dr. Lewis would then go on to serve as an Assistant Principal at North Brunswick High School from 2012-2016. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Lewis back to Brunswick County Schools,” Superintendent Dale Cole said. Cole went on to say, “Dr. Lewis stood out in the interview process as a proven and innovative instructional leader. I am confident that he is the right fit for the traditions and proud culture of South Brunswick High School.” Lewis has an impressive educational background earning a Bachelor of Arts in History, Master of Education in School Administration, and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Dr. Lewis’ first day as principal of South Brunswick High School will be July 1, 2024.
