Our retrofit sustainability efforts are being highlighted across the industry! L+M’s Senior Director of Energy + Sustainability Laura Spencer Humphrey shared the strategic decarbonization framework applied at the Heritage, L+M Fund Management’s (LMFM) affordable housing complex in Harlem, in a video for the ‘Retrofit Playbook for Large Buildings’, a guide for best practices for strategic decarbonization of properties. The Retrofit Playbook was developed by Building Energy Exchange, RMIUrban Land Institute and NYSERDA. LMFM completed the extensive exterior and interior renovation of the property last year, which helped update the property’s systems, and save energy and money, while decarbonizing it. (Shout out to Joseph Weishaar and David Ash for leading the Team in this extraordinary effort!) Laura also moderated a panel discussion at a presentation titled “High Rise / Low Carbon: Multifamily Deep Retrofits” by Building Energy Exchange, Level Infrastructure, and Sustainable Energy Partnerships. The panel focused on findings from a new report titled “High Rise | Low Carbon Multifamily,” which examines the challenges and opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in tall residential buildings. Laura and the panelists delved deep into the strategies, technologies, and lessons learned from multifamily building retrofits. See the links below to view the Retrofit Playbook video and learn about the decarbonization work completed at the Heritage and watch the High Rise / Low Carbon: Multifamily Deep Retrofits presentation that Laura moderated.
