Since 2004, we have worked with thousands of students, teachers, workforce trainees, and volunteers on projects focused on environmental education, renewable energy and environmental justice. The Resilient Solar Initiative, powered by Solar One and funded by NOAA, is a high school internship program in partnership with the City of Newark’s Office of Sustainability. Its mission is to develop eight mobile solar chargers deployed to city-wide community hubs for emergency preparedness. These chargers provide supplemental electricity during emergencies, aiding Newark residents with medical devices and electronics. The initiative hosts eight community engagement showcase events to raise awareness of solar power's importance. These events educate Newark students, families, and businesses on solar power's role in emergency services. Events feature live demonstrations, educational initiatives, cultural elements, community engagement, and environmental advocacy.
