Here in Miami, the Home of the Whopper, we recognize the importance of giving back to the place we call home. By collaborating with community partners who share our passion for education, we can extend our reach and support students who need it the most. Over the last few months, the Foundation and Burger King Company Restaurants teamed up to donate hundreds of meals to various organizations across our community. Together, we're making a difference, one meal at a time.
This month, the Foundation hosted two Royal Celebrations to recognize the efforts of some of our top fundraising Burger King restaurants. A local BK scholarship recipient had the chance to meet and thank the incredible team behind these efforts. All funds raised in the restaurants stay local, empowering students right in their community. For the first time in the Foundation’s 20-year history, we launched the BK Crown A Classroom program to provide essential supplies to under resourced schools near Burger King restaurants across North America. In its inaugural year, BK Crown A Classroom invested $1.1M in supplies across 1,300 schools to impact over 100,000 students and 4,500 teachers. Hear from one grateful East Elementary school teacher about the program's impact: "I don't have to worry about having enough basic supplies for my students now that I have received these boxes! Many of my student's families struggle to purchase the necessary supplies, so it's such a relief to them that I am able to say 'Don't worry, the Burger King Foundation has given us what we need.' It relieves a financial burden at an already stressful time of year."
Wrapping up our "Meet the Team" series, we're proud to introduce Kiara Weiser, MBA, our Sr. Analyst, Fundraising. Over the past year, Kiara has been instrumental in driving our annual giving and employee engagement initiatives. Her expertise helps us not only achieve our fundraising goals, but also strengthen our connection with employees. Fun fact: Kiara loves to golf and her favorite BK menu item is the newly released Fiery Bacon Whopper. That's a wrap on our team highlights!
