Along with other organizations, we’ll be holding this half-day workshop in the North Miami-Dade County area. 🔖 Hosted with our friends at Radical Partners, our SET sessions are designed to help you make your Give Miami Day fundraising campaign the best one yet! This week at The Foundation… ⭐ We held our Activated Professionals Service & Learning Lunch at Greenberg Traurig, LLP where more than 50 community-minded professionals came to learn how they can play a role in building a greater Miami. We learned about the impact nonprofits across Miami are making, and we connected with Be Strong International , Global Empowerment Mission, and Miami Diaper Bank. 🌱 We loved seeing our fundholders and community partners out in community tending to mangroves and protecting our coastlines! 🪩 The Miami Foundation was honored to be recognized alongside our LGBTQ Equity Fund partner David Jobin, at the Pridelines gala this past weekend. ⏰ Our Saltwater Fellowship officially kicked off with its first retreat! We are looking forward to continuing this impactful journey with our fellows. 🗞️The Press Forward national team met in Miami and spent time reflecting on goals, visions and data - as well as joined our Wednesday all-staff meeting! 🎤 Our Miami Open for Business leader, Brittany, shared her knowledge and expertise at a roundtable conversation about the future of impact investing in South Florida. 🏙️  Our Miami Fellows had the chance to connect for a Happy Hour. We are getting so excited for the Miami Fellows Summit and Leadership Reception coming up on October 17th! 🏆 We selected our next Early Bird prize winner for Give Miami Day! Our Saltwater Fellowship has officially kicked off! This week, our Saltwater Fellows, a group of 10 brilliant leaders with deep experience addressing persistent racial inequity in Greater Miami, came together for our Saltwater Fellowship Kickoff Retreat. ⏰ We are so excited to get started on this impactful journey with our fellows! During our kickoff retreat, we spent time setting a collective vision, exploring values, building connections and discussing power. This 12-month fellowship combined with a two-year unrestricted grant totaling $100,000, aims to amplify and propel the work of these outstanding leaders. The recipients of our Arts Access Catalyst Grant have been selected!  - And they have big plans for enhancing arts access for youth across Greater Miami! 🗳️ Voter turnout is low in Miami (If you want to know what it looks like in your neighborhood, check out the data at Vote Miami: https://lnkd.in/ebV-_hr7) We want everyone to feel empowered and informed when elections come around! Voting in local elections directly influences our daily lives and our ability to build a greater Miami. To help achieve this, The Miami Foundation and United Way Miami are coming together to equip nonprofits with resources to better inform local residents about the candidates in their municipal elections. Through the Vote Miami Microgrant Program, 15 nonprofits will receive $1,000 grants to host candidate town halls or forums! This week at the Foundation… 🥳 We celebrated small businesses and honored graduates at South Dade Connections' Black Business Month program & celebration! 🎓 We awarded over $1 million to almost 600 students in new scholarships this year. This was done through 12 scholarship funds, thanks to our funders! 🎥 We saw a teammate’s special appearance at the Leadership Miami opening conference, featuring our Miami Open for Business program. 📚We published our Education Landscape study and Civic Engagement issue spotlight. Class is back in session. This week’s assignment - sending our 2024 scholarship checks! 📬 To build a Greater Miami where everyone can thrive, it’s important to empower our future generations of leaders and changemakers. One way we do that here is through our scholarship program. Our goal is to provide financial support and recognition to outstanding Miami-Dade County Public School scholars as they pursue higher education. 🎓 We are extremely grateful to have awarded over $1 million to almost 600 students in new scholarships this year– through 12 scholarship funds. We are often asked: What does nonprofit programming look like in Miami to support the educational experience our children have? 📚 Over the past year, we’ve been working to break it all down for you. We conducted an online survey and interviewed community leaders in education.
