Community forward. Together.
About us
The Burnham Center for Community Advancement is bringing San Diegans from across the region together to identify needs, find innovative solutions and bring big ideas to life. Together, we will create a thriving, healthy and equitable region for the future. BCCA will encourage and support our community and leaders to come together and act upon the shared needs, values, and aspirations that define us. How we’ll do it We believe that through community engagement, vigorous dialogue, research, data, and best practices, we can build a platform for our leaders, businesses, educators, workers, researchers, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, residents, and government to move us forward and beyond. Our goal is to tap the power of community to transform San Diego into a region that opens doors, provides opportunity, helps the people of our great region prosper, and becomes a place we are all proud to call home. Together, we will bring big ideas to life through: Transformation: We’ll strive for new solutions that will move our region in a new direction by finding novel ideas to address our most persistent problems. Ideas to Action: We’re not just dreamers. We’re doers. One of the most important dimensions of this model is that ideas will become action. Collaboration: Engagement, partnership, and cooperation allow us to achieve things we often can’t do on our own.

The Regional Task Force on Homelessness (RTFH) has released their latest monthly data report, providing crucial insights into #homelessness in our region. In June, 989 people found housing, but 1,172 individuals experienced homelessness for the first time. RTFH is responsible for collecting, tracking, and reporting significant data on homelessness, helping us understand the challenges and progress in our community. Their monthly reports are vital for anyone committed to addressing homelessness. Explore the full report and data here: https://lnkd.in/gUD-DRSz Comment your thoughts on these findings. On the heels of the Burnham Community Dialogue regarding Nearshoring Opportunities that took place on April 25th, yesterday’s event at the Institute of the Americas continued the conversation about the CaliBaja region's potential to stengthen the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain. Thank you to our guest speaker Congressman Scott Peters and our panelists Andrew Rudman Astrea Ocampo, Juan de Villafranca and John Fry who discussed the future of generic and biosimilar manufacturing in North America. Congratulations to IOA for developing the report to further highlight its importance: Assessing Generic & Biosimliar Manufacturing in North America & the Potenail Opportunity for the CaliBaja Region. We at Burnham Center for Community Advancement condemn all forms of political violence. This moment is a wake up call to our nation that the political rhetoric has gone too far. We at BCCA will do everything we can to promote productive civil discourse that respects all lives and the right to have political differences without fear of violence. Let's be the America we know we can be, free to express our views but in the end united as Americans. We mourn the loss of an innocent life today and hope for a speedy recovery for all those injured. They, including the former President, were exercising their constitutional rights and there is no excuse for this violence.

We are thrilled and deeply grateful to announce an extraordinary $1 million legacy gift from our esteemed board member and longtime San Diego champion, Jack McGrory! This remarkable contribution brings Jack's total giving to BCCA to an exceptional $1.25 million. Jack's unwavering commitment and visionary support for our region is truly inspiring. After a 23-year career at the City of San Diego, including six years as City Manager, Jack served as President and CEO of Price Enterprises, followed by a stint as the Chief Operating Officer of the San Diego Padres. In addition to his service as a board member at BCCA, Jack serves on multiple nonprofit and education boards in San Diego and throughout the state. His generous gift will empower us to continue making a profound impact on our community for years to come. You can read more about his generosity in this week’s San Diego Business Journal at https://lnkd.in/gQTxHGMM. Thank you, Jack, for believing in our mission and helping us build a brighter future! #BurnhamCenter #LegacyGift #CommunityImpact #ThankYouJack
