In recognition of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, CalOptima Health’s Chief Medical Officer Richard Pitts, D.O., Ph.D., was one of the speakers at City of Hope Orange County's media event to address the urgent need for breast cancer screening amid rising incidence rates in younger people and communities of color. City of Hope’s “Pink is Powerful” breast health initiative is a public reminder to the community to get screened. Earlier this year, CalOptima Health awarded $16.4 million to 13 organizations as part of our campaign to help Orange County achieve the lowest incidence rate nationwide for late-stage breast cancer as well as cervical, colon and certain lung cancers. This is the single largest investment in a disease prevention program in the health plan’s history. Screening is the best prevention, and early detection saves lives. Be proactive with your health and encourage other women, mothers, sisters and daughters in your life to do the same and get screened early starting at age 40. #PinkisPowerful #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #ScreeningSavesLives #OrangeCounty #Healthcare #CommunityHealth #BCAM #HopeFirst
