The LA ad community is banding together to help those affected by the fired around Los Angeles. For the past 10 days, the major industry trade bodies in LA have been working together to create a massive fundraising drive and block party, including AAF Los Angeles, ThinkLA, 4As, Social Media Club Los Angeles Angeles and Firestone Walker Brewing Company. The goal of the campaign is to collect needed supplies while raising over $100,000 dollars for World Central Kitchen, who provides meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises, and Ad Relief of Greater Los Angeles, who makes immediate and direct donations to advertising professionals affected by crises. The drive will culminate in a 300+ person block party hosted at Firestone Walker Brewery in Venice from 3-7 PM on Jan. 31. I'll be there to pack hygiene kits, write Thank You notes to first responders, and have a beer with one of the best business communities anywhere. A huge Thank You to co-organizers Chris Degenaars, Wes Morton, Mandy Maddela Hoskinson, Susan Franceschini, and Sara Yazdani, plus major thanks to Nicholas Firestone and his team for hosting this!
