This is why we do #youthapprenticeship. Seeing young people like Yumna start their journey to a successful career and become well-rounded individuals. Congratulations to her, and we all wish her smooth takeoffs and safe landings throughout her journey!
Business Operations Associate | Denver International Airport | Colorado College Class '27 | Creative Thinker | Goal-Achieving Individual | Multilingual | Adept Learner | Let's Connect!
I'm excited to announce that earlier this month I successfully completed my three-year apprenticeship program with CareerWise Colorado at Denver International Airport - City & County of Denver Dept of Aviation! 📣🎊 This experience has been incredibly transformative, shaping my personal and professional growth in ways I couldn't have imagined when I first joined the program during my junior year of high school. Now, as I begin my sophomore year at Colorado College, I truly value the priceless lessons, life-long skills, and valuable connections this apprenticeship has brought to my educational and career journey. 📚🖋 Throughout the program, I had the opportunity to rotate between various teams within DEN's Global Communications, Marketing, Customer Service, Arts & Events, and Customer Experience (GCM) divisions, each offering unique insights into the airport's overall operations. Likewise, the hands-on experience of exploring various aspects of airport operations through collaboration with different teams has been immensely valuable. It has enabled me to engage in impactful projects and responsibilities, significantly enhancing my growth and deepening my understanding of both the corporate landscape and the airport environment. 📒✈ Additionally, I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support and mentorship I received from every team member I had the privilege of working with. You are all some of the most kind, talented, creative, and hard-working individuals I’ve ever met! I especially want to express my gratitude to the directors, Sarah Bruton, Jen Billingham, Marco Toscano, Heather Kaufman, Beth Abbott, and Courtney Law, for making this enriching experience possible. Thank you to Whitney McDowell and Stephanie Figueroa for being my dedicated mentors throughout the program. Lastly, I would like to extend a very special thanks to Ashley Goodwyn for being an exceptional supervisor and friend since the beginning of my apprenticeship. All of your guidance and leadership have made a lasting impact on my journey, and I am so proud to have had the opportunity to learn from each one of you. ❤️💫 As I look back on this incredible experience, I am filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. To my fellow apprentices and all those who supported me along the way, I am thankful for the adventures and friendships that enriched this journey. Further, I am immensely excited to carry forward the lessons and experiences that I gained as I continue to pursue my aspirations in college and beyond. 🌟 Thank you for being part of this remarkable three-year-long chapter in my life. Here's to smooth takeoffs and safe landings for all! 🛩 #Graduation #Apprentice #Apprenticeship #College #DEN #DenverInternationalAirport #Aviation #Airports

CareerWise Colorado reposted this
Last week, in a half-day convening with Apprenticeships for America and “Apprentice Nation” author Ryan Craig, we convened nearly 80 of Colorado’s most notable apprenticeship intermediaries, employers, civic and political leaders to talk about #apprenticeship. We were joined by Colorado Governor Jared Polis, whose commitment to apprenticeship over his near two-terms in office, is making the state a leader in this work-based learning experience for opportunity seekers. “Apprenticeships are a great way for Coloradans to build skills that will lead to a career and earn money while doing it. In Colorado we are committed to making our workforce even stronger, and ensuring Coloradans have the skills needed to fill in-demand jobs and businesses have the talent needed to drive our economy forward,” said Governor Polis. The convening kicked off with a conversation between Brent Parton, the new president of CareerWise USA and former principal deputy assistant secretary with the Employment & Training Administration at the U.S. Department of Labor and Elyse Ashburn, managing editor of WorkShift. Brent and Elyse level-set with the audience about the role of an intermediary and how they can be partners to employers, candidates and education and training providers. Brent also offered insights about the ways in which the U.S. can catch up with other developed countries in its use of apprenticeship. Participants heard from Noel Ginsburg with CareerWise Colorado, Julie Wilmes with Pinnacol Assurance, Helen Young Hayes with ActivateWork, Lily Beaver with Cyber Sainik, Liz Qualman, EdD with Colorado Mountain College, Steven King with Apprenti and Siobhan Carroll with OpenClassrooms. With gratitude to Denise Miller with Apprenticeship Colorado, Taylor McLemore with Human Potential Capital, and Julie Stone with Gary Community Ventures for your added contributions and support for this convening.
