Last Thursday, we celebrated the first cadre of nursing students who received the Billi Odegaard Nursing Scholarship at an event commemorating the completion of their first academic year. CareOregon provided an initial grant to seed the Billi Odegaard Scholarship Fund, supporting its long-term commitment to growing a diverse health care provider workforce in Oregon. Congratulations to scholarship recipients Viviana Zurita, Daniel Peraza Garzon, and Tania Mendoza on your first academic year! We are immensely proud of you and confident that you are on the path to accomplishing great things.

We were thrilled to celebrate 4D Recovery's new 40-unit sober living complex in Portland's Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, a crucial addition to support addiction recovery in Multnomah County. Funded by CareOregon, this facility offers a supportive, drug-free environment for individuals to build independence and work towards a healthier life. "Recovery housing is a critical component in the continuum of care. It’s where individuals find the stability and community necessary to sustain their recovery and rebuild their lives," said CEO Eric C. Hunter. "That’s why we’re so proud to be a key partner in this project, working alongside 4D to create a space where individuals can find not just shelter, but a supportive environment crucial to their recovery journey." The facility is designed to help people graduating residential treatment who commit to remaining sober, attending life-skills groups, finding a community in recovery and securing employment. #4DRecovery #CareOregon #SoberLiving #NationalRecoveryMonth #AddictionRecovery

These Community Capacity Building Funds (CCBF) will go towards supporting new housing and nutrition benefits through the Oregon Health Plan. These CBOs will be instrumental in delivering Oregon’s groundbreaking Health-Related Social Needs* (HRSN) benefits, which include supports for climate, housing and nutrition. There will be another opportunity to apply for CCBF in 2025, check the website** for updates. Did you know that eye exams can detect vision problems early, setting the stage for better learning and development? Plus, safety is key—ensure kids wear protective eyewear during sports and play to prevent injuries. Let's keep their vision sharp and safe!
