  • Thank you to the family of Jack McCarthy for hosting their 4th annual golf outing, which raised funds for the Carroll Center for the Blind! Jack dedicated much of his life to helping those who are blind and visually impaired live independent and successful lives through his 53-year service on the Carroll Center Board of Directors. This year, the McCarthy family introduced a fun twist with a blindfolded putting challenge, where players had three chances to sink a putt in a designated hole while blindfolded. All the funds raised support the Jack McCarthy Memorial Fund, which funds rehabilitation, educational, vocational, and technology training for people of all ages and stages of vision loss. Since the fund's creation, over $127,000 has been raised to support the Carroll Center for the Blind. Thank you to the entire McCarthy family for this amazing tribute to Jack! #JackMcCarthy #MemorialFund #Fundraising #StrongerTogether

After six amazing weeks, our Youth in Transition students celebrated their hard work and growth with a dance party! 💃The Youth in Transition program is more than just summer fun—it’s an empowering experience for blind and visually impaired teens, ages 15-20, who learn life skills to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. From navigating urban areas, cooking, and doing laundry, to improving tech skills, advocating for themselves, and being leaders—these students are preparing for the future with confidence. 🌟 They also enjoyed incredible field trips to museums and amusement parks around Boston, plus weekend activities like sports, music, crafts, and more! This dance party, filled with conga lines and limbo, was the perfect celebration of all their achievements and growth. We couldn’t be prouder! 👏 Thank you to Alec's Ice Cream for donating all kinds of ice cream flavors the students enjoyed at the party! #YouthInTransition #LifeSkills #BlindAndVisuallyImpaired #Independence #CelebrateGrowth

Last week, our Real World of Work Experience students had a tremendous opportunity to visit one of their peers’ internship sites - Ascidian Therapeutics ! During the visit, students explored careers in the pharmaceutical industry, toured the facilities, and learned about the groundbreaking work Ascidian is doing to develop new treatments for inherited diseases like Stargardt’s. We are especially proud of our student, Candy, who is studying molecular biology and is gaining invaluable experience in molecular research through this internship. Ascidian Therapeutics also generously sponsored our recent webinar, Daily Living with Stargardt’s. If you missed it, you can find the recording here: https://lnkd.in/e8vNeavs We are immensely grateful for our partnership with Ascidian and look forward to continued collaborations! #SummerPrograms #WorkExperience #Stargardts
