Leading with humility and courage, firm the faith: Feast of St. Ignatius of Antioch Today is the feast day of St. Ignatius of Antioch-one of the earliest Church Fathers, whose fearlessness, conviction, and faith continue to inspire many of us to this day. St. Ignatius was a very bold defender of the faith, even when he was persecuted under Roman rule as bishop of Antioch. Writing seven powerful letters to early Christian communities, he urged them to remain united in faith to persevere through trials, close to their bishops, and to Christ. It is something that reminds us through St. Ignatius of power leading from the heart, no matter what adversity may come our way. And thus, as professionals at our best with faith as our foundation, we embody this knowing our faith paints this picture of how we should lead, serve, and contribute to the world around us. In such a world, value is often the first victim in the name of success, but St. Ignatius inspires us to be faithful to the principles of truth, compassion, and purpose. Let us remember today that work in any field can be a witness to the love and the mission of Christ. Hurricane Milton Update - What we know now: 📌 The death toll continues to increase as the consequences of hurricane are still being felt 📌 Emergency teams are doing water rescues in the Tampa Bay area as flooding continues to occur there 📌 Millions of residents across Florida were left in the dark as power outages rolled out across the state with restoration efforts already initiated Catholic Careers unites ourselves to our brothers and sisters across the southwestern United States in prayer, interceding that the Lord may calm the storm as He once did in the Scriptures. We pray that He may preserve life and property, and that in the wake of disaster and every day, he brings about greater community among his children. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted, and heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and volunteers out there on the frontlines. 🕊 Feast of St. Jerome, Doctor of the Church 🕊 Today, we celebrate the feast of St. Jerome, a towering figure in Church history because of his monumental work of translating the Bible into Latin, which resulted in what has come to be known as the Vulgate. His life was one of intense study, discipline, and devotion to truth—qualities which, quite literally, would not only shape his spiritual life but also leave an eternal legacy for the Church. St. Jerome points out the fact that whatever we do is a mission, so it demands zeal, toil, and a will to perfection. Passion and exactness balanced in his task remind us that excellence in pursuit is enough if it is accompanied by faith. As he puts himself into the deep work of translation and scholarship, he invites us also to bring our best to our careers—to continually hone our skills, learn new things, and seek opportunities for growth in our respective fields. In a world where, very often, careers seem to have little to do with faith, St. Jerome's life challenges us to integrate work with values. His example pushes us to ask: ❓ Are we working just to fulfill a role, or are we driven by a deeper purpose that reflects our faith? ❓ How can we bring greater meaning, faith, and integrity into our daily work? ❓ What does it mean in your career life to seek to shape your work according to faith and vocation?
