☀️ Located in southern California, the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District is upgrading and expanding its aging Horsethief Canyon Water Reclamation Facility through a progressive design-build contract. ✅ The goal of this project is to provide reliable and affordable service to existing customers while cost-effectively accommodating new developments in the area while also improving the quality of the effluent. ✅ This project will include membrane bioreactor (MBR) treatment, which includes membrane filtration with a biological treatment process for nutrient removal and produces a high quality effluent. ✅The treated wastewater will then be reused for non-potable uses like irrigation of the surrounding green spaces. 🎉 We're thrilled to welcome Karthik Kumarasamy, PhD, PE to our team! With 14 years of drinking water, wastewater, reuse, design, modeling, permitting, rule development, and regulatory compliance expertise under his belt, Dr. Kumarasamy will bring invaluable knowledge to our mission. 🌊 Karthik's impressive track record has left a lasting impact on the industry. He served as the technical lead for the Direct Potable Reuse (DPR) rulemaking and as the Chair of the Technical Advisory Group, which comprised of 68 experts responsible for developing the framework for DPR regulatory program. He has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed publications and developed statewide policies on drinking water, onsite wastewater, and advanced water treatment engineering reviews for the state. He closely collaborates with Arizona universities. His innovative work has earned notable accolades, including the Governor's Award for predicting arsenic non-compliance in public water systems using machine learning and 1st place for best abstract at the 2023 AZ Water Conference for his presentation titled “Arizona’s DPR Source Water – A Quantity and Quality Perspective”. 💡 "As the technical lead of Arizona's DPR rulemaking, one of the documents I relied heavily on was the EPA’s potable reuse compendium that CDM Smith authored. I instantly knew that the values of the company align with mine," says Karthik. Dive into his story here: https://bit.ly/3PWcs32 🌟
