As it's #GlobalMentalHealthDay today and this happen to be one of my passion subjects to talk about. Here are some thoughts:
Mental health is no longer just a personal issue—it’s a critical factor in the health of our businesses, teams, and society.
Having gone through my own journey with burnout a couple of years ago, (with feelings of the desire to spend all day in bed, being passive, plagued with anxiety attacks and exposed to multiple tinnitus), I’ve felt firsthand how the pressure to succeed can take a toll on our well-being and can become dangerous.
And while some of us might talk about it behind closed doors with dear friends and family, it seems to still be treated as a big taboo topic in companies. Is it the perception of weakness and the fear of not satisfying expectations? Having had many conversations with founders, investors, consultants and corporate company executives, there seems to be an underlying assumption and acceptance that burnout is "part of the job".
Ok, but here is my question? Are we not supposed to feel our best when we are asked to give our best?
The former view explains why globally only 18% of companies offer mental well-being programs. 18%?! I think, the reality is that burnout doesn’t just affect individuals—it weakens entire teams and ecosystems. As leaders, founders, and professionals, we can no longer afford to ignore this gap. So let's talk!
In the last two years, I started exploring burnout prevention and stress management at a deeper level and got an understanding of what it takes to approach mental well-being more holistically.
I’m more committed than ever to supporting my network of founders, teams, and organizations in building healthier, more sustainable working environments where mental well-being is not just encouraged but embedded in the culture.
Mental health is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. It’s time we start building support systems that truly care for the people behind the work, and foster environments where we all can thrive—not just survive.
Let’s take this journey together and make a lasting impact.
